Officially Joined the 629 Club (Picked it up today!)
A few weeks back I realized I "had" to have a 629, and posted this link Taking the Plunge on a 629 (God I love that woman!)
Well it's official, I took the plunge and bought a new 4" 629 through my LGS last night. Will be picking it up in the next 3-5 days. To say the anticipation is killing me is an understatement. Despite comments from fellow Ruger fans (Which I am as well with 3 Rugers that I love) that "the 629 will shoot loose", "can't load as hot as the Redhawk" etc, I can not wait to shoot the heck of of it! Will post up a pic or two once I have it in hand.
The waiting is the hardest part!

Congrats on your acquisition!
Don't fret over the Ruger hype. Rugers are stronger, and if you are planning to use 300 grainers@1300fps for regular range practice, then Ruger is the way to go!
I hope you are picking up on my sarcasm.
Nobody practices with loads like that.
The worst S&W out of the box will always be smoother than the best Ruger.
Post pictures when you can, and enjoy your new 629!
Warning: 29s and 629s can get addictive real quick!

I have a Super Redhawk 7.5" and a 629 4". Guess which one I shoot more? Waaaaaay more. I love the SRH, but it's not a range gun, or an SD gun. It just isn't. Yeah, I can shoot Godzilla with 6 rounds of Buffalo Bore +P+, and yeah, if that didn't kill him, I could beat him to death with the pistol itself. But, when that's done, my hand is not going to be happy. I can shoot .44 specials all day long and have a great time with the 629. SRH? I have to use sand bags, or I get tired holding that thing up after a couple of cylinders. It just isn't as fun to shoot. I can conceal carry my 629, and do on occasion. I wouldn't even want to open carry my SRH. That would just be silly. That said, I could hunt with either pistol, but I'm probably going to take the SRH.

At long last my 629 finally came in. Bad weather caused delays with the delivery, but my LGS called this morning saying it was in. Picked it up this afternoon and have been fondling it all day LOL. Can't wait to put some rounds down range.
Be well all.

Congrats on the 629
That is a nice looking gun. I have been keeping an eye out for one like it.
I think you will like the grips that came on it. I have the similar factory grip on a snub 686 and really like them. Liked them so much that I picked up another from fleabay to have on hand if these wear out or I purchase another RB L frame. JA
