Talking smith wesson model 17-9 22LR

acquired this new member of my family yesterday, its is a beautiful gun and the grips are sweet . can't wait to get to the range to see how it shoots. been looking at this gun for awhile but was to expensive, broke down sold a shotgun now its mine....

That's a real beauty. Those are as rare as hen's teeth. I had a chance to buy one once (consignment sale) and I stupidly did not do it. I have been kicking myself ever since.

That's a nice gun, but I think you should dirty it up a bit. That rascal can be a fun gun for generations to come. When you hear someone say, "They don't build 'em like they used to", you can say, "Yes they do!".

Do the new ones have the heavy barrel like the -5 (and -6s before full lug) or the thinner barrel of the -4s and previous?
