629-4 Date/Info PICS ADDED
Hi guys,
i recently scored a nice 629-4. upon further inspection the gun doesn't match the box and paperwork it came with. Any info or a production date would be appreciated
The serial is BSA5XXX I believe it's a 6 1/2" Barrel.
Thanks guys!

July - September 1994.
It should be a -4 and the product code was likely 103638. That was a 6 1/2-inch round butt, came with Hogue neoprene grips, and S&W called it the "CLASSIC" (it should even say so on the barrel).
Got a camera?

I have one just like it and I wouldn't take $750 for it. One of my most accurate 44's

Seeing this often lately online, many guns being listed as 98%+ that have obviously been polished. As long as you're happy with it though it looks like a very good shooter for that price regardless.

Looks like the previous owner may of polished the "CLASSIC" off the barrel. The good news is the screw holes don't look dished and the edges still look sharp, so they didn't sand it down to the point of that kind of damaged.

The barrel lettering is still there just very light.
I looked for the same things. I have worked with a buffer before and know how it can dish out any holes so I figured whoever did this probably just worked by hand and didn't really ruin anything. I figured if they worked hard they would have totally erased the barrel markings too.
Range just opened again after all of this snow so after 3 or so weeks I finally get to shoot it!
