Default Type/Value of these N-Frame Stocks/Grips

I have a set of stocks/grips which were mounted on my Model 22-4 when I purchased it second-hand, and I'm flummoxed if I can tell the maker or specific type.

They sort of look like presentation or target grips, but they don't really match either type 100%. They have S&W medallions, but no other make/manufacture marks that I can see.

Anyway, I'm not wanting them and plan on selling them. I'd just like to know what to call them/ask for before I go and list them. I don't want to misrepresent what they are, nor do I want to get soaked selling them way under their value.

Thanks for any/all help.

Definately aftermarket and tend to agree w/ PB.
These type of stocks generally sell in $40-60 range

The only thing I didn't mention is they have a blued screw, not brass. I've ordered a set of Thailand grips before and they came with a brass screw. Granted, anyone before could have changed the screw hence why I didn't really mention it.

Is there anything more I should be looking for on the inside of these grips?

Herrett's are basically what they look like to me as well. Do they normally have anything stamped inside or not?

They are Herrett Extra Fancy Coco Bolo grips ,
I have two pair purchased new last year around $55 new IIRC from CDNN.

Those style fit my hand better than factory grips which are a bit larger,
Plus I like the look of the dark wood with S&W medallions .

Thanks all,

I didn't expect them to be anything special, and there looks like a glut of them, or similar grips like them, on the typical auction sites. They never had a bad hand-feel, I'm just put off by the extra material on the bottom. For me, they just look oversize and throw the look of the revolver off.

That being said, after looking at what others have done to grips, I got to looking at them last night and I may just trim up and round off the bottoms. Make a sort-of plain clothes presentation set of grips.

Now knowing with a bit more confidence they're most likely pretty standard grips, it gives me another option.

Thanks again.

All of my many pairs of Herrett stocks have a stick on label on the inside of one panel that has a code for the model it fits. An example is RSS for, IIRC, early Security Sixes. I have never seen stocks made by Herrett that have the shape of the O.P.'s. Herrett's most similar shape is their Roper which does not flair as much at the bottom and is only made with speed loader clearance on special order. Additionally, I have never seen a Herrett made stock with a S&W or any other gun manufacturer's medallion. Consequently, since Engine49guy bought the same "Herrett" stocks from CDNN, I suspect one of two things. Either Herrett has started importing stocks or CDNN advertised Engine49's purchase using the name Herrett as a generic term.

Comments?

Edit to add: Over the years I’ve seen a lot of grip/stock boxes at gun shows that did not contain the stock they originally did. It the past it was common to find an original set of S&W stocks in the box that the owner’s upgraded came in. Those were the days. The same thing happens with after market gun parts. I would not be surprised to see the same misrepresentation on E-Bay. Private parties can claim ignorance. CDNN should know better.

I think I may have some fake Herrerts, there is nothing like them on their web site. They were a gift and they fit my hand well so I guess I'll keep em. I need to order a set though to make it right with Herrett.

O.P. here,

Until joining this forum, I never really realized the detail in the collector market for S&W stocks/grips. I get it, everything can be a collectable to the right person(s); but man, stocks/grips are no joke. I appreciate all your input.

Since they came with the revolver, there's probably no way for me to be sure. There's no decal on the insides and there's no residue from peeling off any decals. I can find no ink stamping either. So either some knock-offs or 'sterile' Herrett's.

Since I can't be sure, I'm somewhat leery about selling them at this point. Like I said a little bit earlier, I have a woodworker friend who is willing to round the bottoms off for me and I think they'll look better to me then.

At best, I'll improve (for me) a set of low-value aftermarket grips; at worst, I butcher a set of Herrett's which I couldn't honestly call Herrett's.

Am I crazy? Or can you never have enough styles of grips?

Nice pre-owned genuine Herrett's only sell for $25 to $35. They are not collectors' items and are not in vogue. Herrett's has been making them for so long that the market is flooded. It is the prices excellent condition factory targets and especially combats sell for that is a joke. Your gun probably came with Taiwanese stocks after its last owner "harvested" the factory stocks to sell separately. You are not crazy if you reshape your stocks to fit yourself. They look like an oily hard wood that only needs furniture wax for a finish. That's all Hogue puts on their hard wood stocks. The brochure packaged with Hogues advises sanding the shape to your preference then rewaxing. The only part of your plan that does not make sense is letting your friend sand them to fit his hand.

Oh, he's not fitting them to himself. He's just rounding the bottom/ends for me.

I'm good to go with the way they hold in-hand; I'm just not happy with the extra material at the bottom.
