Talking Model 629 at LGS

Looked at a used 629-5 (or may be -6) I don't remember, at LGS today. Gun appears to be in excellent condition. Has a 6" barrel, the lug is not full length. Locks up good, and has a fair trigger. They are asking 700.00 for the gun. I don't think that is a bad price, nor a great price. If it is still there in the morning, I might step up to the plate.
Have never owned a S&W .44 mag. (Had a Ruger Super Red Hawk once).
Not afraid of MIM parts or the ILS. Have never had a problem with either of those. I would use this for shooting holes in paper, not hunting, or defense.
What say the S&W experts?

IMO that is a very fair price for a 629 as you described, particularly the
-5, just because of resale value , not function or fun.

I think it may be a tad high by $100.00 bucks.

If it is a clean -5, I'd buy it. For a used -6 I would want to pay a little less.

Life's too short to worry about a hundred bucks.it will be worth that in no time anyways.People spend way too much time worrying about a deal then what their buying.

The price seems about the same as I see in my neck of the woods. As others have said, if it appears in good overall condition and you like it, go for it. No doubt that it will increase in value in time. I have to say that a .44 mag. used only for punching holes in paper may not be the best gun for the task. I suspect that you will be looking for .44 SPL loads before long.

I had to go out of town this morning, so I did not get to the LGS until after lunch. The gun
was already sold.
I already had a Ruger Super Redhawk, that all I did was punch holes in paper with it. Recoil does not bother me in big bore guns.
There will be another 629 come along in the future.
