Default Need lock plug for 65-7?

I'm trading into a very nice 65-7LS, CFE9XXX, with the lock, and wondering about the need for a 'plug'.
What is the current thinking about the locks now that there is a decade of experience to look at. Is it necessary to remove the lock in a carry gun to make it 100% trouble free?

1st, nice trade!

For me not an issue on a 638-3. I have no problem with MIM parts either. I have both styles, I don't buy a gun on IL or MIM specifications.

You asked a question that is on a slippery slope. The question is fine, but some of the responses will be........

Bashing, Crying, & Whining

At the moment, "The Plug" apparently is not available.

For my EDC guns I have removed every part of the IL.

On my range guns and competition guns I have not removed the IL.

If I had to do it again I would just remove the "nub" of the "flag" part of the IL.

This would disable the chance of a "lock up" in a defensive situation. But, would also not be a problem if a warranty issue were to arise.

I read the link and now understand this is a "third rail" issue. Mods, I'm not a pot-stirrer, should we lock this thread?

Its relevant as it is no longer available. Frustrated at that fact I whittled my own out if a high grade SS screw. It took a few hours with hand tools.

I personally hate the looks of the lock and will never use it, anyway.

IMHO, not as long as it stays civil, as it has so far, your looking for input. Nothing wrong with trying to make an informed decision. I don't see the problem, (I'm not a mod). It would be some of the responses that might cause the issue. Also if you do a search on the subject, you may find some threads at great length discussing this subject.
