Default New Model 66 - Who owns one?

New S&W Model 66 available at LGS for $789. Who has purchased one and what do you think, good and bad. Primary use would be range and nightstand duty.

I bought one as soon as I could

to me the balance is great, the accuracy for me is very good, you may be a better shot or have a higher standard than I do.

the bad things are minor
it seems like some of the holster makers don't have forms for them yet, which will come eventually, id be patient I have an old hunter cheapy that seems to hold it well enough
and the lock, if that is a big thing to you, but if you are considering it, then it must not be.

Love mine

They aren't as easy to find, but an old model 66 should be cheaper than that. And no lock to worry about.

I have one of the new M66s (also have a 19-3). I bought the M66 because of the round butt and to be used as a shooter. Round butt so that I could equip it with the Hogue S&W 500 grips. Now my M69, M617, and M66 all have the same grips and transition between them is virtually seamless.

I have over 1500 rounds of moderate to heavy .357 magnums thru the M66 with no problems. The new crane/barrel shank has been re-engineered to eliminate the barrel shank cracking problem of the orig 19/66s.

Default My Model 66-8

I love the look of the glass bead stainless steel finish. It's just too beautiful. I love shooting it in single action with either 38 special or 357 ammo. The trigger pull is still a little stiff for double action. Any ideas, other than a trigger modification at the performance center? I've pulled the trigger well over 1000 times with snap caps and it's still difficult.
