Default I picked up a 28-3

I traded a Ruger and got a Smith. 28-3, it's my first N frame, after five K frames. From looking around, is the only difference between -2 is that -3 does not have a pinned barrel and recessed cylinder? I can live with that.
It was surprising to see how many people passed on this because it isn't P&R, and because it's a 6" barrel, not 4".

I won't have a chance to shoot it until this weekend, it's driving me nuts.

A Super Blackhawk 44. I paid $450 for the Ruger, so that's in the low range of what 28s sell for in this area.

I am sure that you will like the 28 much better. I can not warm up to Rugers, especially single actions. I have a 6" 28 from 1960. You are in for a treat! Congrats! Bob

Congratulations, nice find. Not too many 28-3 owner's on the forum. Most prefer a 28-2, but I bought my 28-3 in 2010 for $420, shipped, and I am very happy with it. I'm a shooter, not a collector, so the lack of P&R does not concern me.
