RSR Group S&W guns question?
Does anyone know, or has anyone had any experience with the special edition S&W pistols sold by the RSR Group? Will they send you a letter of confirmation like Lew Horton does? Are their specials listed in the S&W Big Book like Lew Horton's? Any info appreciated!!! Thanks!!!!

Answered my own question. Contacted RSR Group by email and just received an answer. Sorry, but "no we keep no information on theses specials and suggest you contact Smith & Wesson directly. Thank you for your interest in RSR Group."

In the '90's they sold M629's that all had a special "RSRxxxx" serial number prefix. The 3-inch guns, they called the Trail Boss, they had a product code of 103408. The 6-inch gun was 170056, it had a slabside Mag-Na-Ported barrel with scope slots on it. The 7.5-inch, 170065, was called the Magnum Hunter Plus. None were made in large numbers. There were other models, too.

All known Smith and Wessons are listed in the SCSW not matter if they are production firearms, special run firearms or Distributor Exclusive offerings.

Not all. For example, 104190 is the product code for a 7-shot, 3-inch, M686-5. Nothing particularly special about it, but it's not in the SCoSW. I suspect there are many more. Small runs. Guns made for shipment to Europe.

Forgive me for not being wordy enough. I will rephrase
All Smith and Wessons known to the authors at the time of publication and intended for the US Market are listed in the SCSW no matter if they are production firearms, special run firearms or Distributor Exclusive offerings.

Of course there are lots they do not know.
Pick any two S&W collectors you know and tell me what percentage of product codes they are personally aware of. No two sets of eyes and ears can possibly know every product code
This is why Jim solicits the Forum for things he and Richard do not know about long before going to publication. If you open the front of your SCSW you will see acknowledgements to roughly 100 major and minor contributors to the publication
If you know of something not listed, put a post in the proper SCSW forum for inclusion in the 4th edition
