Default My S&W Model 65-2, 3 inch barrel, round butt

I started a thread a while back about my Model 64-3 and how I got it back in the fold after a few decades. The gun came home in pristine condition with the box and all the goodies. The box didn't fair so well, but, the gun is like new.

Well, here is one other that I bought in the same time period. This gun has some rough miles on it, but, the box and all the goodies have been in dry storage since the day I brought it home. Actually, the stocks have never been on the gun after I brought it home. So, here is my 'hip' gun that I wore on many a night serving warrants and chasing bad guys. When I used to go out and serve warrants in our city and surrounding cities I wore a smooth leather vest, blue jeans, and, Tony Lama western boots that matched. That's what we did in the days past. For anyone paying attention I did wear a shirt also.

My S&W Model 65-2 three inch barrel and round butt. It don't get no better than that.

enjoy,
bdGreen

My M-65, 3", heavy barrel roundbutt never sees the inside of the gun safe. It is a later model, 65-6, pre-lock. I picked it up years ago, used, from a LGS because the price was right. It wears a set of old Rogers, plastic finger groove stocks. I absolutely love it. The short heavy barrel balances perfectly, points naturally and clears leather quickly. Most of my other S&Ws get babied. This one get treated as a tool... One of my favorite tools, that is. The 13/65, 3", HB, RB revolvers are IMO some of the best defensive tools ever produced by S&W.

Nice guns. There is something special about a gun with a personal history. The Model 65 is beautiful, too, and my preference is for the 3" barrel, which looks and feels perfectly balanced to me. (The Model 64 is pretty nice, too).

My 3" 65 is a -5 that came from Gil Hebard's around 1980, ordered when I returned from living overseas. I haven't shot it much -- it spent a lot of time in a case somewhere, particularly during subsequent periods of living overseas. Recently, it has been dressed up with new stocks and taken to the range a few times, where it has proven to be smooth and accurate.

Very nice 3"ers. I sure do enjoy my 65, which is one of my favorite, and still looking for that 64. Want to sell?

Nice! Always like pics of nice guns! I had a couple of 3" 65 RB's I sold them here several years ago. Still miss having one. Best shooting .357 I ever owned. Heavy barrel balanced it well.
