Default 625 Model of 1988

Looked at a 625 Model of 1988 at a local gunshow this weekend. It had a 5" ported barrel. Had not seen one before and was not sure of the sellers price of $1325.00. What say the hive as for a reasonable price for one of these?

I don't think the porting is factory, and that would be a big negative for me. I'd say $1,325 is too high for an altered gun, but pristine and with the box you could see one go for that in the right venue. Basically, he's asking collector price for a non-collector gun.

Product code 100921 did not leave the factory ported.

For me to even consider it at that price, it would need to be unfired since leaving the factory and complete in the correct original box

Regard less of who did the porting, I would probably be looking to pay half that price for a 625 shooter

For comparison I recently bought a 1988 model in almost perfect condition no box but beautiful factory combats for $1000.

Glad I didn't jump on it. It was pretty clean, had box but I did not look inside, was wearing a pair of Hogue X-Frame grips. The porting looked to be Magna-Port and was back bored. Thanks for the info thus far.

I agree with the others. That one sounds like $900 to me maybe.

Default Gun Show Price Is Too High

The 3" configuration will bring the most for this model and I have been seeing them sell for more than $1,000 on a regular basis. So, if the gun at the show would have been a 3" NON-ported with box, documents, tools, etc, then the price would have been more "in the ball park". As others have said, the 5" configuration should be less than $1,000. In addition, the after-market porting of the revolver will also lower it's value quite a bit as many individuals do not want a ported revolver, especially if it is non-factory. IMO, you made the correct choice to pass on this revolver.

The "625 Model of 1988" was never offered in a 3" barrel from the factory, it was only offered as a 5".

You are correct colt_saa.

I was thinking of the "model of 1989" instead. I stand corrected.

I like the wood on your 625! Wish I could find grip similar for my 625JM. As much as I like it, have not found the perfect wood yet. Tried 5-6 sets. Shot it yesterday. Bob
