Default Just Something About A J Frame. (model 37)

I love my J frames. Carry one everyday. I believe they are the next S&W to take off in price.

Yep, great carry piece. Here are three of mine,
Top to bottom, M36 round butt, M36 square butt, and a Pre-Model 37 round butt.

Funny - for some reason I only have one J-frame in my album:

Smith & Wesson Forum - ISCS Yoda's Album: Revolvers - Picture

It's weird because I also have a 649, 642 (EDC), 32 - no idea why I never took photos of those!

Love those J-frames!

I love them as well. A few of the old J frames are really expensive. The older Model 40's are really high priced and I've seen a couple others. A lot of places are selling them for 800-1,000 bucks! I wouldn't pay that much, but if everyone else follows that trend, then you'll have no choice if you want one. I carry one of these two every day, mostly the blued one. I also have a T grip on its way and a set of refinished diamond square butt magnas on their way soon as well. They are going on the blued one.

J-Frames are my favorite. Other than the 617 Taurus at the top the J’s are all I shoot and carry.

Default My J’s 60-9. 360j

The 60 is the brides house toy, the 360 mine. I practice with the 360 whenever I’m pistol shooting. Takes practice to be proficient with a snub.

I have seven J Frames. I have a Model 60-10 that I think is worth a lot more than I paid for it new. I am amazed how much the original J Frame grips are worth.

Also, I think a lot of CCW people are starting to realize that "five for sure" in your pocket can become mighty comforting as you pump gas. Having a gun that can be carried in this fashion is very important to me and I have found nothing that gets close to a J Frame for this.

I sometimes carry a Model 60-9 but truth be known it is usually this 649. I know that it is not the current "conventional wisdom" but I want to be able to use my revolver in SA mode if I so choose. I have a wide variety of holsters for it so it can always be with me. I keep two speed strips in my pocket and I have extra .38 ammo squirrelled about. Sorry about the picture. 649small.JPG

Last night my wife, daughter, and in-laws had a celebration dinner of our 10 year wedding anniversary at the parents country club; dress was semi-formal... I carried the blued M36 in my right slacks pocket in a "Nemesis" holster with a Bianchi 6 shot speed strip and only the wifey was the wiser... "J's" are just perfect for that sort of thing. I started out with the 3" M629 but decided a jacket is too damned hot in North Atlanta this time of year. The "J" did fine! On more than an occasion or 3 I've been known to NY Reload carry the both of them. One in the strong side front pocket and the other @ 4:00 in a Bianchi...

I agree completely. With a J Frame you don't have to dress around the gun very much. Shirts can be tucked in. Jackets can be taken off. The wife stays happy.

I have thought about the N.Y. reload idea. My wife has taken my 642. This would have been a great second revolver. I may have to purchase another one.

Going to CVS late night for cough syrup and such for the girls... the NY Reload method works great for that situation when you have to quickly put on a pair of jeans, flip flops and a T-shirt and head out the door before said CVS/Walgreens closes. It's comforting have a couple "J's" on you because as all too often... it's at night bad things happen. There is no faster reload than pulling a second revolver/pistol. If you get another one I suggest using the Magnas and installing a Tyler T-grip to spread the recoil a bit; especially for the wifey if she ever decides to take the "J" frame unless she enjoys the 642 as is. I know my wife likes that combo and she has small hands. A "J" frame brings so much to the table!
