i could really use a tips and tricks tutorial from the experts on this...,

I can highly recommend using a Jack Weigand scope mount.

I ordered them directly from Jack's website
http://www.jackweigand.com/scope.html and received them both within a week. he even has how to mount videos on this website.

I used Weigand mounts to mount my Tasco Pro-point Scopes on my S&W 625-4 and my Ruger GP100 (see below).

When I got back into shooting about 5 years ago I discovered that my eyes no longer worked very well with metallic sights and these sure make shooting and hitting what I shoot at a lot easier.

Try to mount the red dot as close to the bore axis as possible. Allchin makes a mount for the head up type mounts such as Burris FastFire and Leupold Delta point.
