Default Deer beware: 29-5 n-frame with Trijicon RMR

I had a heck of a time finding much info before I put this together. So here is a thread for future folks.

So far I really enjoy shooting this. My dominant eye has an astigmatism and iron sights vary depending on the day how easy it is to focus.

Not to mention sight picture acquisition speed etc. Anyway, not going to spend a lot of time justifying the pros and cons. I like it. Isn't the first choice I'd make in the looks department but it is miles ahead of some alternatives.

One thing to mention. The RM46 mount meant for n-frames and x-frames is nice. But on mine it did require some file and stone work on the mount's recoil lug. It fits wonderfully snug but it appears they oversize the mount so a gunsmith or educated gun owner can make them fit exactly right. It's just aluminum so not too tough to work with. Be careful with those dremels!

Feel free to ask questions.

very nice set up! I wouldn't think so but, does the sight affect the balance of the handgun? I would also like to know what kind on "rig" is available for carry purposes while hunting.

Nice pictures too!

Thanks. So far I'm impressed with it.

According to Trijicon's specs the Adjustable LED RMR I have weights 1.2 ounces with a battery. The Mount has to weigh that or less. To me that may as well be nothing because I can't tell any difference to the balance of the gun.

Which is good because I love the way a 6.5'' full lugged barrel handles and shoots.

So are you going to shoot/aim with your non dominant eye?

I have the same problem. Several Aimpoints on AR's and inline muzzloader's for years only to get an astigmatism in my dominant eye. So far its not causing aiming error but it makes me wonder if I should switch my aiming eye. And it also depends on the day and light conditions how bad it is.

Great rig there, that 29 classic and RMR!

So far I am able to hold satisfactory groups as is. I see some flares on the red dot especially as I turn it up brighter. But this is pistol accuracy and so far at 25-50 yards it's been fine.

With my glasses I am usually ok. Sometimes though and when I am tired I notice my eye doesn't focus as well.

It's a far sight better than trying to aim with two dark iron sighas regardless.

Working on shooting both eyes open as well.

My setup is close to that except I have a holosight on mine. I have moved the sight further back on mine since this picture was taken.

I shoot my dot's with both eyes open.. works good for me, i am left eye dominant right handed.... i shoot iron sights both eyes open as well, i will blink my right eye occasionally (while aiming) to make sure i am seeing the target with my left....

Yep. The double vision I can handle. When it gets interesting is where I find my left eye trying to take over for my right.

Nice. Without any more practice than I have trying to free hand shoot beyond 50 yards, a scope won't do me any good.

Even as I chrono my reloads, my groups go all to hell when I try and shoot from sandbags as compared to free hand grip.

Not sure I'm a "steady rest" pistol hunter at this point.
