Are ALL J frames the exact same grip size?
Hello, I apologize if this has been discussed previously. I just purchased a S&W J frame for my daughter, she would like new grips. It is a brand new gun in a not very popular load. It's a 432pd which is in 32 H&R mag. Will any J frame replacement grip fit her pistol? Thanks so much...

There are round butt J frames, and square butt J frames, so there are two styles of J frames, but I believe that all round butt J frames are the same size, and all square butt J frames are the same size. So yes any J frame round butt grip will fit your 432PD which has a round butt frame.

Until you get into a couple of the older (rarer) J frames like the Air crewman and Baby Chief...

I have a Model 38 (J frame Bodyguard humpback) from the early '60s and any round butt grip, or round to square, will fit it. Hope that helps.

Like Randy says, the very first J frames starting around 1950 shared the same grip frame size as the earlier I frames. They are about a quarter inch shorter. The 'modern' J frame has been the same since the mid 1950s.

The model 432PD is the same size as the "standard" Model 642 or 442 J Frame with a round butt. Thus the various wooden grips on the market -- Hogue, Eagle, Altamont, etc. -- will fit (S&W puts Altamont wooden grips on several revolver models at the factory). There are a lot of Asian-made knock-off wooden grips on Ebay, but these don't always fit well.
The various Crimson Trace grips for the J frame will fit the Mdl 432PD, too.
If you are looking for a more comfortable (slightly larger) rubber grip for the 432PD, there are Pachmayr, Hogue, and S&W grips for J frames also available. The S&W "full size" J frame grip works well; I just added added a pair to my Mdl 432PD to give me a full three-finger grip. Product: J Synthetic Full Size Grip with S&W Logo

Here is a pic of a few of my J-frames...
The model 60 on the left is a square-butt and the two on the right have round-butts.

Thanks for the replays.... It's a new gun 5/15 manufacture date. I'll get her a grip today.
