SCSW 3rd edition Page 400 serial #'s
I recently picked up 2 Smith's from about 1996 or 97. The serial #'s for both gun start with 3 letters "CAC" and "CBZ". When I researched these guns on page 400 of the SCSW....these letter sequences do not show up. That page is confusing ...am I missing something?
629-4 CACxxxx
617-2 CBZxxxx

Best guess on CBZ is Sept. 1997
Best guess on CAC is at some point in 1995
I'm still trying to figure it out too, so I may be off. But based on my logic, that's my guess.

The 3 letter prefixes in the SCSW are only a sampling -- they are not the only prefixes, but they give you a sense of where your gun's serial number may fit in the broader scheme.

These dates are based on date codes from actual boxes. Not the SCoSW.

I SW about my 629-4. It's also CACXXXX. They said it was shipped in 1997 and they had no mention of the barrel length.
I tried to find it in the catalog and it was not in the book.
So weird.
