Maybe not THE best looking S&W but is my best looking...and the only blued one I own. I'm not crazy about how those grips look but they sure feel nice shooting. May have to find something more classic looking for it.

the grips are by Craig Spegel.

They are (in this case) made for the square butt K frame, so if your M10 is a square butt they'd fit.

Now, for the bad news, these specific grips are made from American Black Walnut, which grows on his property and he only makes a set for every 1000 grips he makes, so you might be able to get him to make the style shown in other wood (Cocobolo, Macassar ebony, Bolivian rosewood - he uses all of these and others).

The second piece of bad news is that his backlog is pretty far out, I've seen others post that it is out to about a year, but you'd need to call him to confirm.

Here's his contact info:

Regards,

Oh, what the heck, great thread; here's another. All my Models 15 are IMHO the apex of "classic looks" in DA revolvers. This one's a 15-2

Default Model 681

You know, all of the Smiths have their own charm and beauty and it really is difficult to pick. But for me the one that really stands out aesthetically is the Model 681.

My newest and current favorite is this 1975 27-2 sporting a set of "PC" Diamond Magna's. I think the checkered top strap is one of it's most unusual features.

It's Saturday and we're not done yet. There are a lot more "best looking" Smiths out there. Even if your Smith pre-dates 1980 you can still slip it in. . .good looking is good looking regardless. We're getting to see lots of guns that I didn't even know existed. Lots of us knew that great looking after-market grips were out there, but had never seen them on a great looking gun. This is really letting us all see what is available in guns and grips! So, before you buy your next Smith, take a look at this thread. I know I have. It's like a catalog of the best of the best.

I have to throw my 15-2 in also. The grips do not have a cutout & I haven't seen another set. It has target trigger & hammer so maybe it came that way. No # on the grips. It has been shot very little & the holster is for looks. It goes with my carry piece. My model 15 no dash carry is not pretty but was carried by a prison guard & I am the second owner. It dresses up just fine. The stags are for Sunday. May as well show the 14-3 also. It felt left out. The ugly grips look better on a nickel gun.

As I said in my earlier reply to this thread, all Smith revolvers have their charms. Even the often ridiculed Model 49. This was my first S&W bought new in 1978. I think it is beautiful!

Best looking to me is the one with the most character. It says more than "I spent my life locked in the safe". Besides I just like the lines of a 5" K frame.

Before 1980 there is one clear stand out...my 27 no dash:

After 1980 it would be my recently acquired 25-5:

I've actually sold off most of my favorites in the last year or two,but I still have a "few" that I like pretty well. This is just one of 'em. I honestly don't think I could choose just ONE,just ain't no way.

Gotta throw this one in too.

Oh,what the hell?

Like I said,ain't no way!

Just remember,I didn't start this!

See what I mean?

I guess I should at least add ONE that actually fits the category in which this thread was started.

I think the 4" 686 is one of the all-time most graceful designs, and the Ahrends grips set it off nicely.

Yes, those grips are pretty. But what's that (shudder) that THING on top of it? Looks as appropriate as slicks on a Yugo;-)

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I use it for bull's eye pistol and the red dot is a big advantage.

Default Is there an ugly one? Really!?!

Playing by the >1980 Rulebook:

Gotta be the 66-2 3"

However, In my humble opinion, Blued P&R N-Frames are essentially Mechanical Artwork!

Blued K's are no slouches.

May not be a safe queen but this S number 57 with antique carved ivories is my favorite.

We have plenty of them, but these are the favorites, and the ones we've been shooting almost every weekend lately. (and they happened to be out of the safe today).
a 29 and 19, and the dash 6 Chief we're working on that will be a sweet thing when it's finished.
Thanks for all the pretty pictures fellas;
Bill

This is like asking which of your kids is your favorite. But for me, it doesn't get much better than this 627-0 Model of 1989.

Not going to let this great thread go by yet because then I'll have to look at that 'what did you pay for your shield" thread. . .seriously! The 28-2 might not be the best looking Smith, but sometimes beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is the most menacing gun for sure. . .wouldn't want one pointed in my direction. The frame is so large that it makes the 4 inch barrel model look like a snub.

You guys are showing some great looking revolvers here!
I'll start off with my model 28-2. Just something about this gun that keeps my attention. I always smile when I see it.

As far as nickel guns go this is my favorite! Model 586 4".

And as others have stated many times, you cant beat a high polished deep blue finish like on this 3 1/2" model 27-2

I guess my problem is that I like them all!
