Question NEED FAIR VALUE PRICE

What would be a fair purchase value for a S&W model 66-6

and an S&W model 14-7?

BOTH ARE 6" BARRELS.

Both are in VGC, Thanks.

That's the first year for the internal lock which will reduce value to some enthusiasts but not necessarily to buyers in general.

I have a track on the 66 snubbie (2-1/2" barrel):

Smith & Wesson 66 2-1/2 inch barrel. Smith & Wesson 66-5 2-1/2 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Mag. Blue Book of Gun Values (35th Edition) indicates between $550 in 95% condition and $655 in 98% condition for this gun. I have 88 recorded prices for this model gun from $423 to $1095 over a period of 3 Yrs 10 Mos ending September 9, 2015. The average price as of that date was $700. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $614.

The last 10 prices I have for this model since 6/9/2015 range from $600 to $1000 averaging $758 which indicates the average price is increasing for this model.

The Blue Book of Gun Values adds:

Quote:
Add 10% for 2 1/2 in. barrel. (Included above)
Add $29 for 6 in. barrel (disc.).
Add $48 for TH (target hammer) and TT (target trigger) with 4 (disc. 1991) or 6 in. barrel only (disc. 1999).

Note: Several variations of the Model 66 were made - such features as an all-stainless steel rear sight and a recessed cylinder will bring a slight premium if NIB. There were 6 engineering changes to this model.
Can't help on the Model 14.

I'd suggest you call a few local gun shops, find out the current retail price for a new Model 66, and begin by subtracting 10 - 15% for a used gun. Since new M66's are only available in 4-inch, IFAIK, your 6-inch might even be more desirable to certain individuals.

Kernal Crittenden,

These two items may become available to me in the near future, I'm looking for a FAIR PRICE to pay a person. (Model 14-7 & 66-6)

The boxes are the new Blue Plastic ones not cardboard ones.

I'm not SELLING THESE, I'm looking to purchase.

"Box" is sort of a generic term for what ever it shipped in from the factory. Good to know the deal includes the original case, since that adds some value.

I think $550 for the M66 and $550 for the M14 would be fair. Plus/minus $50. The M66 gets knocked for having the lock, and the M14 gets knocked for being .38 Spl only.

The market loves .357 in full size revolvers. The great old .38 Spl doesn't get the same love today. Same goes for 6-inch barrels. The market loves 4-inch and shorter. 6-inch is not as desirable.

When you get them post some pics. I'd really like to see box label for the M14-7. That's a gun I don't see everyday.
