8 shot revolver thread...
Let's see those pictures of your 8 shot revolvers. Thank you to all.
Here is my Model 27-8 with an 8 shot cylinder and a 5 inch barrel. It is a Performance Center gun, and was distributed by Lew Horton in 2007. There were only 258 made and mine is #132. I am in love with this gun, and am amazed at how well the sights line up. The charging holes are chamfered and it's cut for use with or without moonclips. A very nice touch, I have to say. The checkered topstrap is not as cool as it used to be, but cool nonetheless.
I put these Culina, English Walnut, Coke profile, Exhibition Grade, checkered targets on it. I changed the rear sight blade to a shorter .146 for Dead Center Hold instead of the factory 6 O'clock Hold. I also removed the lock mechanism and installed The Plug. I doubt I will ever need to buy another newer S&W in .357 Magnum because simply I don't think I can do much better than what they did here with this one.

Sorry, no pics (I'm working on it) but honorable mention for the 4" M27-7 I picked up a few months ago. It's a no-lock PC gun and is #24 of only 100 produced. There were also only 100 similar 6" models and I much prefer the 4" but would like to have #24 in 6" to keep mine company.
And not to hijack but then find a no-lock 627 UDR and my 8-shot itch will have been scratched.

Actually the longer barreled model 27 offering from Bangers back in 2000 was 6 1/2", not 6"

Not to hijack but you're right. My mistake.
Regardless, I'd like to have #24 in 6.5".

Here's mine.
When I broke my collarbone last year I had a lot of time to sit around and just look at guns. Unfortunately, it was my right-side collarbone and I am right-handed. For the 6 weeks I was wrapped up, I decided to polish the flats with Mother's Mag and leave the round parts in their sandblasted finish.
I don't use it much as Mexican Practical Competition is mainly revolvers, and that means 6-shot revolvers. The 7 and 8 shooters are practically non-existant down here and since there's no easy way to get them it would simply be unfair to allow them the advantage they hold against their 6-shot counterparts. In any event, most competition rules (IPSC, IDPA, PPC, NRA Action) limit them to 6 shots before the reload anyway.
We do allow the higher-cap revolvers to compete using full-capacity in the "unlimited class" in bowling pin matches but in any decent pin match if you've not done the job in 6 shots you're probably not going to win anything anyway because there's too many other shooters around who can do what needs to be done with 5 or 6 shots who will take all the trophies that are on the table.
...and a shot of the 627 with the second-last NRM is almost obligatory.

I love the 8 shot, 357 Magnum concept.
Back in 1996 when it leaked out the Lew Horton was going to have Smith and Wesson make these odd wheel guns for the upcoming SHOT Show I was excited. I called and asked that they send me #357. I have always liked serial numbers.
What I was told is that 300 were being produced and that was it. So I had #27 sent instead. It arrived in June. That is the revolver in the top left of this image.
Not too long after getting #27 I got a call from Lew Horton asking if I was still interested in having #357. It turns out that this was the fastest selling Distributor Exclusive they ever had. So in September #357 arrived. That is the revolver in the upper right of the above photo.
The rest as they say is History. Thanks to Lew Horton, that model has been in continuous production for 19 years now and we have had dozens of variation on it over the years.
But these were stainless and the top straps were uncheckered. So in 2000 Bangers produced 4" and 6 1/2" model 27s complete with proper top straps. When I learned of these I was too late to have both barrel lengths in #27. One had already been sold. #357 was out of the picture because only 100 of each were being produced. So I settles on a number with no meaning, but they were the same.
In 2001 Bangers was supposed to follow up with 3 1/2" and 5" 27s. It is very sketchy why this did not happen.
However in 2006, Lew Horton picked up the ball and gave us blue Registered Magnums in 3 1/2" and 5". Yes I bought the same serial numbers as the Bangers guns.
2007 saw Lew Horton release the Registered Magnums in Nickel. Naturally I had to add those as well
Here is a complete set, one of each 8 shot, 357 Magnum model 27 configuration that has ever been produced. All six have the number. None of these have been fired since leaving the factory (I have other non-matching that I do shoot).
There have been many others along the way
There are more to photograph and more still to buy
And I have to include my little 8 shot revolver as well

That's one heck of an itch ya got there ! Good luck in your quest. I could never afford to start a collection like that but I can certainly live vicariously through others!

Caine: But Master Po, I have learned everything you have taught me. When will it be time for me to leave?
Po: You have done well, Grasshopper, and we are pleased. When you can show us a 6.5 inch 627 on top with a 4 inch on the bottom and a 686 in the middle, it will be time for you to leave.

Love my new 627 PC 5 inch barrel. Trigger is a little stacky for what I prefer, but I think it'll smooth out with use. Very accurate gun. I carry it in a de santis thumb break. I think it's the perfect defensive revolver.

My TRR8 is getting a bit lonely.
A PC 627 might be a nice companion.
Wondering if these are also setup for moonclips?

Every 8 shot, 357 Magnum that the Smith and Wesson Performance Center produced in the 27/327/627 family of revovlers left the factory set up for moon clips and included 2 or 3 with clips the firearm at the time of original sale.

Well assuming I make it through the next 2 weeks, this may be the next one. I feel my resolve beginning to weaken.

I have the 6-1/2 inch 8-shot Model 27-7 that jack-the-toad is missing. I bought it new in October, 2000 and put it away. I would like a 4 inch M-27-7 and would gladly trade my unfired longer one for a similar shorter M-27-7, or buy one for cash outright. One of the last of the 'no lock' guns in the series. Like Jack and others have said, Bangers only ordered and received 200 guns of each length.
I bought one of the very first 8 shot Model 627 "8 TIMES" 5 inch, slab-sided barrel guns as my Christmas gift to myself on 12-24-1997, number 511. These are true Performance Center guns. Mine's still un-shot.
What would be perfect for me is an 8 shot Model 627 with the traditional tapered barrel profile of the traditional Model 27 with a 5 inch length, and no lock. I worry that, in time, I may bob my M-27-7 down to 4 or 5inches and have it Metalloyed or Armalloyed or Metalifed to get my perfect belt .357 Magnum revolver.

Life is short, if that is truly your perfect gun.......,...go for it. I hate hearing about nice guns that languish unfired. I'd rather see it modified, and used.

Well, I don't have much info, but here is what I have:
It was manufactured in 2010. I bought it less than two years ago and it came with the box, papers, and test fired shell -- but no moon clips. I have since gotten some moon clips for it.
It was from the era when Performance Center guns still used forged parts, because the trigger has the solid back rather than the hollow MIM version that I have seen on some PC guns made more recently.
It does have the internal lock, though.
It weighs just under 38 oz empty, and has a 2 5/8" barrel.
The grip on it is the original. I don't have a picture, but most of the time I shoot it with an Ahrends grip that is just a bit larger and has room for three fingers.
It's very accurate, and the weight absorbs much of the recoil.
I don't carry it as it's not listed on my license. I may list it as one of my three carry guns when I renew my license later this year -- if I can figure out a way to conceal it well.

Oh, well, beggars can't be choosers. That's some nice stuff you have there.

Yes, for some reason, mine was short that documentation as well.
