I haven't found the dimensions for the M-648 cylinder as compared to the dimensions for the M-617 and want to find a M-48 and add an extra cylinder. If any of you are Gunsmiths or S&W Armorers you may be able to help with this question and I'll appreciate any help. I'm thinking the M-617 will be the only choice unless there is a blue M-17 cylinder available, is this correct? Thanks for the help.

If I understand what you are trying to do, you need to contact S&W request a 22lr cylinder install on a 648. They should quote you a price and send you a shipping label. They used to do that, I am assuming they still do. Good Luck
