Model 63 grip replacement
I just acquired a factory new Model 63 revolver, 3" barrel, round butt. It is a well-built and good looking weapon but I'm not real crazy about the synthetic factory grips.
Does anyone have a recommendation on replacement grips, preferable wood, silver S&W medallion, with a more square butt look...also needs to be long enough to accommodate all three fingers and not a combat grip.
Thanks in advance.
Roberto

IIRC, S&W made so-called target grips for the J, which fit both round- and square-butt J frames. They are wood, checkered, and have a silver medallion. Not too sure about prices (I doubt that they make them any longer), but do a search here and you'll probably find that they go for somewhere between $40 and $60 for a new-looking pair. You could post in the WTB forum here.
P.S. The following thread may be of some interest: Lets talk about J-Frame Grips...... . Post #12 illustrates some uncheckered factory "targets."

This company, Altamont, makes really nice and not too expensive grips just like you are looking for. I have some of their work on j frames, 1911's and Ruger MK111's. Here is a link for you.

Just plain j frame round butt grips should fit
My j frame 63 grips were replaced by wood grips from a 36 j frame. I had a set of rubber grips on mine and lost the orig. wood grips, bought a set used from a j frame for $25.00. Fit fine.

I prefer the slightly larger target grips and the RB to SB conversion. I also recommend the Altamont grips.

The J RB SB targets would also be my recommendation.
a set on an I frame revolver of mine.

I like the Factory Targets as well. This pair was designated a reject and actually thrown in the trash at S&W in the olden days. Fortunately a Employee rescued it as I like the weird color. Here is a standard looking pair of checkered targets.

Take a look at the grips on the 60 Pro, the revolver at the top. I believe you can still buy them thru S&W for around $45 and are very comfortable.

Colt_SSA, nice grips….are those available through S&W new (well, I'm sure the weird colored ones would be hard to find…)? Also, do they extend past the butt of the frame? I'm looking for a grip that is a little longer than the frame. Thx.
