Default Help Identifying age of SW 66

Just picked up a smooth shooting almost like new SW 66 4" from a private collection that was traded in, just trying to identify the Year- came with the box and all. Owner believed he purchased new in 1988 serial number is AYF44XX. Any help is greatly appreciated Thank you

If you have the original box, 98% of the time you know the date of manufacture.

It is a 4 digit number under the heading of SPEC ORD

The 1st digit is the year and the remaining three are the day of the year in Julian format

Your revolver was made in the 1980s. Most likely that first digit is a 7, indicating 1987.

thank you I will post pics do not get to pick it up till the 14h, came in on trade- a call to my friends shop tells me the code is 8155 so I guess it was born on June 4 1988- thanks again!

When you get it post the Product Code. It's probably a 102705, but there were some less common variations in the 4-inch -2.
