Thin Grips
I am looking for a set of nice thin grips for my 24-3. I'd love a pair of Spegel's, but I just got on the year long waiting list today.
I have used magnas with a tyler t and they felt pretty good, but I'm looking for wood.
I want an exposed back strap, not much lower than the frame and thin, thin, thin. Not interested in finger grooves as they never seem to fit my hands right.
Anyone have suggestions that fit the bill, and feel free to post lots of grip porn.... uh pictures i mean. Thanks
I'm also toying with the idea of putting a pair of targets to the belt sander and trying to come up with something I like.

Customizing your own is the best route.
There are many, many pairs of junker target stocks available and they can be bought cheaply.
Take your time, and make them comfortable to fit your hand.

I got these a few years ago from S&W. They are fingergroove, but really thin. Actually thinner than I like.

Look at altamont grips. They make grips for S&W. You can buy straight from them and they are pretty thin.

What he said! Herrett stocks are smaller feeling than S&W. I have 4 sets and like the feel personally. Bob

This is my 24-3, I also just don't like the "Combat" stocks that come on it. I purchased off the internet, someplace in Texas. They were full size, finger groove, rosewood impregnated, RB to SB conversion. I took about a 1/4" off the bottom of them, and sanded the finger grooves off. They are thin, but enough depth to get a good grip. I did this nearly 10 years ago, and if I had known about Altamont at the time I might not have gone to that much work. Check out their line Altamont Company

Thin ? Check out Ahrend's. I ordered 2 sets Retro Combats , 1 for a N-frame( model 58) and the other for a K-frame(model 64) requested them unfinished so I could thin them like I usually have to do for every commercial set.
Didn't have to touch them, Kim knows how to profile grips, both sets are perfect, I just finished them in tung oil and LOVE the fit and wood.
They are thin without being too thin.
My avatar is the model 58.

I found a $7 used pair of Herrett's Shooting Stars and redid them to my tastes. The right hand trigger finger rest is now a subtle lefty thumbrest and the right side was smoothed out. They are here on a 24-3 and used to look like the ones on the Colt including the color. These grips can be found cheap. These are pretty thin.
