There is a current .38 Special model 60 in production, the -16. It is not listed on the factory website but I have seen a few for sale online.

Here's a 60-7 which was the first +P and the last standard J frame except for the NYPD guns -8. Your question is a good one and this information helps me out too.

Sure,
Product Code - 102423
Spec. Ord. # - 8134
Serial # - CCS9339
Purchased fired but LNIB. Came with the Uncle Mike's stock boot grip, but photo shows new production S&W rubber combat grips that I have added. No Internal lock, frame mounted FP, and MIM internals.

A factory spokesman told me that the M-60-4 was the first model with the Plus P rating.

I saw the SCSW notation for the 60-17, it sounds to be a 60-15 (3" full-lug barrel, adjustable sight) in .38 Special but I have never seen one in the wild. Maybe in a private zoo somewhere, like a unicorn .
