340PD
I just came across a no-lock 340PD that the previous owner had Cerakoted. Asking price is $595. Looks good and locks up tight. I doubt that it was fired much (no surprise there) but the refinish worries me a little. What are they hiding? Any opinions on the gun and/or the asking price?

The black finish shows high edge wear almost immediately from factory. He probably couldn't stand the way it looked. I'm not a fan of the titanium cylinder, if you shoot 357 often the cylinder will show its true colors. I think you can find a factory orig with a steel cyl for that price. IMHO.

Thanks, that's my feeling on the price as well. I wouldn't be firing many .357s in a gun that light, just +Ps. I may make them an offer and see if there is any wiggle room.

I picked up a 360pd last month, but lost it to Barbara right away.
My M&P 340 from Quantico Tactical will be at my LGS on Monday. Looks like you might qualify for S&W's LE/Military/First Responder program for pricing. It's very good, although $595 for the pd doesn't look bad at all.

You can get a new M&P340 for $625 shipped from Bud's if you qualify for the LE/mil/first responder discount. On top of that there is a rebate through the factory for another $30.
I would go the new route as the M&P has the tritium front sight, rounded rear sight channel, and steel cylinder.
I looked very seriously at the 442, 340PD, and M&P340. The better sights on the M&P were what sold me on it.

I wouldn't be "worried" the refinish either. But, it isn't "original" so, the seller would need to come down in my opinion. $600 can buy you one without finish "issues" if you look around. I would stick to the no-locks but, that is just me.

Go with a new M&P 340. The steel cylinder allows you more ammo flexibility and the sights are excellent. You don't know how much wear is on that refinished used job. I feel the M&P is much superior to the PD. That's one of the reasons why I own two M&Ps.
