Default 686-6 variation

Today I stumbled across a 686 I couldn't quite piece together in my mind. It's a -6 with 6" ported barrel. Front sight is set back and the port is a single slot between the end of the barrel and the sight. The S&W good book doesn't show anything in particular so I thought I'd throw it out to you folks to see if you have any thoughts on this one

These were factory ported models called powerport versions. I have a 629 Classic in this configuration as well.

This gun was later worked by Magnaport.

My uncle had a 686 Powerport, they are good shooters. But, what 686 isn't?

The 586+ pc with the 3" barrel is pitted the same way and has the front sight behind the port too.

The product code for the 6-inch M686-6 with a PowerPort is 164272, but I've never seen one in the box. In writing, it's sometimes referred to as the Model 686PP. AFAIK they were all 6-shots.

The -5 and -4 was p.c. 104272. The pre-lock versions were pretty common. The -6 not so much, and would of been made 2002 or later.

If you could find out the s/n of this -6 and get some pictures I would be very interested to see them. A box label would be ideal.
