686 plus non fluted cylinder removal
Greetings. This is my first post. Apologies for any errors. I recently acquired a Talo 686+, 7" barrel, non fluted. I have seen videos on removing the crane & cylinder. I remove the screw, open the cylinder. The non fluted clears the frame and slides forward. Mine doesn't clear the frame. Any advise on how to remove it?

After removing the screw and opening the cyl, while holding the cylinder in place, pull the yoke (crane) forward out of the frame. (out of the cyl and frame)

Thank you. I did try that and the posts are getting stuck somewhere. The last thing I want to do is damage it. Am I correct in saying it should slide out once the screw is removed?

Correct. The yoke should slide forward out of the frame and the cylinder, as you hold the cylinder back. Could be some debris on the yoke barrel or inside the frame near the yoke button. Try some lubricant or penetrant type spray in these areas. Does the cylinder spin/rotate freely?

Yes it spins freely. Please bear in mind this is the first revolver I have held. I had it to the range and it fired without any problems. I will give it a go again with some oil. It's clear there is no design feature preventing the removal. Thank you for the help. I will report back in a bit.

Be sure you are removing the correct screw......and the front screw in the sideplate is fit to the yoke button, so don't get it mixed up with the other crowned slotted screw. The screw has to be removed completely, not just loosened, in order for it to clear the yoke button and allow for the yoke to be removed.

Sorry for the delay. It worked! It had some gunk on the yoke. The previous owner had never removed it. Thanks for the help.
