625 JM, hated to do it but....
I had to change the stocks. Now I have immense respect for J.M. and his fantastic skill with a revolver but try as I might I couldn't get his stocks to work for me. So I hitched up my big boy pants and harkened back to my DA revolver past, Hogue stocks. I have always done well with them and the palm swells and subdued finger stocks in wood or the old hard nylon did the trick for me for fast DA work. So I dug through my "box-O-shame" and the only N round butt Hogue's I had was rubber. Good enough for the moment, installed them and did a quick 50 round test at the range. Oh goodness, nice round groups without the horizontal stringing! If it works out perhaps a nice set of wood Bantams or such should be obtained. Be cool folks and have a nice weekend!

His stocks don't work for me either. I switch them out and put something a little more suited to my hand -- which is obviously smaller than his. Or, perhaps, it may just be that Star Trek fans don't do well with Bang stocks. It could be as simple as that.
My own 627 came with a different set of stocks and they fit me pretty well.

My 625 JM stocks came off immediately. I found the extra set of rubber grips that came with the gun to be far more usable.

I'm completely turned off by some of the wooden grips that come standard on some modern revolvers. I immediately removed the factory grips from my 686 SSR and 625 JM guns (and I dearly love both guns) and replaced them with rubber grips looking for a job. They now have gainful employment.
My 686 TALO 3" had grips identical to those on the above 627. That gun is gone and so are it's hideous grips. Yay! I also don't know why the standard grip screw set-up has been supplemented by those bolts that make the grips difficult to remove.
OP: Don't feel ashamed; look for a campfire to toss those grips in.

Now, as much as I don't like the feel of N-frame RB Combats. I'd pass on fire wood.
30 years from now the question when buying a used 625 JM would be "Do you have the original grips"?

If the "Star Trek fan" reference was related to my user name, let me clarify. My first "cruiser type" motorcycle was a Kawasaki VN800B Vulcan. One of my buddys wife started calling me "Vulcan Bob" and it sorta stuck. When I joined my very first forum, here, I just used that as my default user name. Now I still own my Vulcan but seeing as how I now have two Harleys I wish she would stop calling me that! Now is a "Bang stock" a reference to the maker, due to the mounting style I always thought Hogue made em. Or is that a slang term I havent heard yet?

I always saw those JM stocks on sale by BANG Inc. which is JM's company, so I call them Bang stocks. I really tried to make them work for me, to the point of having thinned one and tried to move up the hold for my girly-hand to the point that I found out there's some kind of neoprene insert under the wood near the top of the forestrap wood -- so don't sand too much off.
I tried the rubber grips of various styles and found them super comfortable but sticky enough to stop easy manipulations when reloading and stuff and went back to wood. Most of my S&W revolvers just use the factory stocks now -- maybe thinned and rounded a bit on some and pretty much as-issued on others.
I thought I had seen you reply -- I think -- to a few Star Trek threads although I did not know the Vulcan was a motorcycle reference. I just assumed you had pointy ears, upswept eyebrows and a haircut that was, well, BANG style.

Never fired the first round with the wood Jerry grips on mine. Installed a pair of the X-Frame grips and life is good.

The JM stocks are not for everyone though they may work for Jerry. You did the right thing and used what works for you.
Enjoy it more!

I also didn't like the JM grips on the 625JM although I love the gun. Added the Hogue grips and Hi Viz FO sight:
