What do I have here? Model 58-1 .41 Magnum
Ok, Yea, I know it's a 58-1. Got it....
However I cannot find this in my SCSW. 4" barrel .41 Magnum, 58-1 in the yoke.
Serial number is DCY4xxx
It also has a lanyard loop on the butt.
Going by the serial number this seems to be from the early 2000's but as I said, no info regarding the model number. The gun is on layaway at the shop so I cannot provide more info than that for now other than what you see in the photo.
Thank you.

You have a model 58 that was produced around 2009.
That frame design with the 4th screw came out with the heritage series around 2002.

Thank you!
I could not find the newer gun in my recent copy of the SCSW. Am I missing it or is it not in there?
Cheers!

There are hundreds of S&Ws not listed in the SCSW Third Edition
What we often forget is that the SCSW Third Edition was published 9 years ago in 2006.
Your model 58 had not yet been introduced

Picked up the 58-1 today. I'm trying to get more basic info. (photo in first post)
For example, this does not have the ejector rod shroud like a current model 57.
So what frame is it? Is it an N?
My apologies for all the silly questions. If there is a relative FAQ that covers this more modern model please do point me to it.
as always, thank you in advance.

Yes, it is definitely an N frame.
I like that it does not have the ejector rod shroud.

It is the descendant of the original model 58, made from 1964 to the later 1970s. It was always an N frame, and was marketed as the service version of the Target sighted model 57.

I have this newer m58 in the world famous s&w nickel finish. It's not in the third edition. The m58 shoots like a dream in 41mag.

After handling this compared to my model 28 I'm not sure I like the T-Grip...
I'm hoping to shoot this on Sunday so I'll get to see.
