Default Should I send it back again?

I have already sent my new PC 637 back to S&W once to fix a tool mark it had on the muzzle. This is a brand new msrp $500 gun.

Now after five weeks I got it back and it looks like they used a vice or similar tool on the top strap. It's gouged through the finish and into the metal.

Also the forcing cone is roughly cut and has burrs on it.

It bothers me but maybe this is just cosmetic and I should just live with it, or maybe the finish will start coming off and the forcing cone will screw up the accuracy. What do you think?

If the frame is gouged through the finish, the underlying metal is exposed to the elements. If they wanted the metal to be exposed, they wouldn't have put a finish on it. I'd send it back and suggest that they have the makings of a great firearms company there, if only they could fine some people to build and service firearms.

Not that it will make you feel better but I had to send a Colt SAA in 2x for "fixes".
Upon taking it out of the box I noticed globs of solder where the front sight met the barrel. Colt sent me a tag, it went back and they fixed that with a nice clean finish.
I looked over the gun and found a nice dent on the topstrap, as if the gun was dropped or something fell on it while at Colt, or at the very least once it left my house. They replaced the frame with a new one with no questions asked.
My brand new Sig 226 shed it's frame rails after some 300 or so rds, they had to replace the frame on that.
Moral of the story, all manufacturers are prone to "oops", not condoning it, just stating my experiences.

No opinion on your next course of action, but my new 2.5" PC 686P came with a forcing cone with such a rough finish that burrs dragged against the cylinder face and scratched it. I knocked off the worst burrs with a file and just started shooting it. Amazingly, it is very smooth now from all the flame cutting.

If I had bought it for myself, I might have sent it back, but it was a gift, so I didn't want to fuss. Fixed itself in the long run.
