thanks groo. i bet my trigger has been worked on. i best use only federal or equivalent.
if it's slow to do, i won't do it.
you guys think of this as a hobby. i think chore.
if i had more money, i wouldn't consider reloading.

try before i buy?
i don't think i can do this.
the more i learn, the more this looks like science lab.
i failed chem lab in high school.
if i buy a manual, i'll stare at it, but i won't open it.
i have no talent for this.
i guess buying a centerfire gun was a mistake.

Think of it like a cook book.
You are baking up a load for your revolver.
Look up the ingredients , adding the correct amount in the correct
order, and you get something to "feed" your revolver!!!!!!!

you know, cost of centerfire will be less than i thot.
see, on sundays i usually shoot 120 22lrs.
but the m15 is so tiring i only shoot 40.
so my extra cost of a sunday shoot is only 40 rounds, less the cost of 120 rimfires.

hey, guys.
i'm a fan of wood grips. s&w has nice ones for $80.
thing is, my bluing is so worn that new grips would look silly.
can anyone tell me if that do-it-yourself cold bluing is worth doing?
will it match my old bluing? will it last?
the m15 is gonna be carried in a leather holster o i'll get some wear, but if i made it cute, i'd spring for nice grips.

If you're going to carry it in a holster all the time any wear will come back. Cold bluing is not as tough as factory bluing.

well, there's no blue on parts that don't touch leather.
not sure how it got worn off.
who knows what prison guards did with guns.

Groo here
The lack of blue is common on LEO guns as the holsters often do not
fit well, and the gun slides around rubbing the metal.
The guns are handled a great deal but often shot little.
PS .
Any more "Killer Rabbits" or do you need a "Holy Hand Grenade"

thanks, groo i thot i saw all the python stuff but i don't remember
that scene.
i can get by without grenades right now.
i've shot at 7 evil bunnies this year.
i killed 7 evil bunnies.
a well modified 22/45 doesn't miss, tho i did get one point shooting the single 10.
at the time i had been practicing point shooting every day.
i'm now waiting to see a new target so i can blood the model 15.

the rod the cylindr spins on has lost all its bluing. i can't imagine how.

what really bothers me is this idiot guard has the number 860
scratched deep into the frame in a very sloppy fashion.
scribbled into the frame.
i've been unable to find out if the prison had an armorer.
i suspect it was tuned because of the match grade trigger the guard didn't deserve.

Suziequzie, would you mind sharing some rabbit recipies? I too like to use a .38 SPL for bunnies. My absolute favorite is a 148gr hollow-base full wadcutter over 2.7gr of Bulleyseye or 3gr of Titegroup. Kills the bunny, saves the meat. Marinate the cleaned carcass in buttermilk and then make a stew with carrots, corn, lima beans (the green ones), mushrooms, onions (I like pearl onions or Vidalias), capers, and whatever else looks good. No cheeze. NO TOMATOES. A turnip can add a nice nuance.

BTW, I get a sense from your posts that you live in Wyoming in the high plains. I grew up in GA and joined the AF and was stationed at Great Falls. Talk about a hunters's paradise. I still lwand my ashes (serruptishishly) scattered in Glacier Park.

Another option which I think is legal. Buy all your own compunents and pay a reloader to assemble them for you per your spec. IANAL and others can help clarify the legal aspects of this. Nowdays, even though people can be reasonable, insurance companies will go after the money, and limits your options.

Sorry for rambling - second beer and all...

gwal, i haven't been cooking these bunnies.
tularemia has been found not far from here, so i'm scared to eat them.
i shoot them because they cost me hundreds in ornamental plants n forced me to spend hundreds of hours rabbit proofing my garden.
these cottontails are not native to this area. some idiot brot them here 60 years ago n let them escape.
they don't act like cottontails up north.
i grew up near the canadian border n there were always bunnies around. they did little damage to my garden so i never bothered them. they'd take occasional nibbles.
here in new mexico, they will eat 100% of my ornamental n food plants.
i now have a 6' high fence with chicken wire buried all round it.
i did most of the work myself.
i learned carpentry, which is fun, but i hate them for making me dig huge trenches.
i shoot on sight.
part self defense, part revenge.
someday, i bet they try to gang up on me n eat me. i don't believe they are just vegitarians now.
hideous ravening beasts.

please do keep rambling.

thanks groo. fun article. as far as shooting my m15 lots,
i'm worried.
it was built in 1980 n i have no idea how much it's been shot.
how many rounds can this gun do before it breaks?
also, do i need to buy a spare for parts?
usually, if i know i'll be shooting tens of thousands of rounds
thru a gun, i buy an ugly ruger.
i really dislike rugers, because they are never any good out of the box, but they do hold up well to heavy use.

i'm a slow learner so i gotta shoot a gun lots to master it.
but i have no idea how much use a model 15 can take.
i love it for being fine machinery but i don't know how far i can push it.

tried offhand shooting today. got one 4'' group but that was using two hands.
one hand it's just too heavy for me.
i gotta exercise i guess.
nontheless i think i can get some nice groups with this gun, someday.
bench rest proved that.

Shooting the loads [ non-+p] I would expect ,,,,
You can't buy enough !!!!!!!!!!!!
Your gun came from a Jail?
If so , I doubt there is 1000 rds through it.
They are handled every day , and shot once a year maybe a box.
I also doubt the gun has any "smithing" done to it [like a trigger job]
As the guns were "part of the uniform" and supplied by whoever
got the contract.
So the trigger is "stock" [ For a Combat Masterpeace that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!]

Ps.
For the bunnies--- take some hot peppers [ the kind marked "not fit for humans] or you make "green chilly" with,
cut up and sock over night in gallon of water, spray on.
Won't hurt most plants BUT narry a bug or bunny will want near it.
PPs must reapply after rain till bunnies get trained!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks groo.
i hope you're sure of this.
if you tell m i can, i'll put 10,000 rounds thru this.
it's hard to believe this is a stock trigger.
it is perfect.
i was thinking tacoma had an armorer on the payroll.
i went to their site but was unable to find out.
i have the evil bunnies locked out for now.
i dug a trench 2' wide by 4'' deep.
bent chicken wire in a 90 degree angle n buried it.
they try to dig under but stop when they hit the floor.
that doesn't mean i'll stop killing them.
they made me move tons of dirt which was not fun.
i want revenge.
plus i gotta blood the m15.
it is very important to blood my guns.
if you were pagan, you'd understand this.

looks like the welsh ken the real world'.
guns live in more than our 4 dimensions . they have a soul.
you shoot them lots so the know they are mated to you.
then you blood them so they understand their job.
if you do that, they will handle things without you having to tell them what to do.

i'm trying your hot pepper thing to see if it works on bugs.

He was into holestic garden stuff.
Now you could use old out of date pepper spray.

i don't have pepper spray. just guns.
holistic is good for gardens.
i don't mind chemicals on my ornamentals, but if i'm gonna eat it,
i go with fun stuff like manure.
i couldn't find poisons for evil bunnies.
that's ok tho. shooting them has turned into a hobby.
the model 15 is loaded n next to the door.

IF you decide to get another .38, a best choice is a Model 14. My 14-3, was a super buy at $410 including shipping. It shoots so well. 148 gr. lead wadcutters, and it is kinda like shooting a .22. Bob

Guys, I cannot believe there hasn't been an "equipment drive" to get Suzieqz equipped for reloading! I can kick in 100 wadcutter cases and a couple hundred 148 HBWC slugs or a Lee hand press and a set of adjusted .38 SPL dies. Someone can contribute a manual and a basics of reloading book, a set of Lee dippers and miscellaneous. She can buy primers and a can of powder locally and give reloading a try. Should we start a separate thread? Is this a good idea?
Suggesting so many different options for her is just confusing, let's get her a basic outfit to try and get her started.

Edit:
Suzieqz may not be comfortable revealing her location, even a town so obviously we need her OK on this project.

Suqieqz, many years ago I was stationed at FT Bliss TX, (Ignorance is bliss, welcome to Ft Bliss). Out in the desert north of the base across the NM line, there were very odd bunnies seen. They were cottontails, not jacks but they were BIG and.. well, just odd looking.
Now the story was that special ops guys did desert survival training around there and they either couldn't catch the desert jacks or couldn't survive on them so some genius brought in bunnies to release in the desert for the SF boys to catch and they apparently thrived somehow. I have to wonder if your bunnies just might be from that project!

dan, i don't mind giving my address out to friends.

but, if i say ok to this, it's the same as asking men for presents.
nice girls don't do that.
so, who do i shoot at ft bliss? bringing in invasive species is evil.

thanks for the vid, targets.
that's pretty scary.
i could probably get it apart but i could never get it back together.

You won't be sorry. That .40 brush will work great for the cylinders when you get your first .357 and fire .38's in it as well.

the problem is finding another wearver clamp on rail. weaver stopped making them after s&w started drilling n tapping new guns.
i have no smith n i can't use iron sights.
i was lucky lee barner had one laying around, so i get to shoot the m15.
this time, i gotta find the rail first.
a gun without optics is worthless to me.

FUN SUNDAY
well, the summertime heat is here. that texas storm has caused
nightly rains here. great in general but the humidity when it's in the 90s saps my strength.
si i couldn't prac tice bulls eye.
when i do that, every fiber of my being is focused on every shot.
total concentration.
i just couldn't do that but i never miss my sunday shoot.
i decided to work on point shooting. i do work hard at that but not with the total concentration bulls eye requires.

i decided to spiff it up. after the sunday morn news shows n my coffee, i started preping.
but while i did, i put on an old B&W western.
lots of gunfire from 6 shooters that never need reloading.
this got me in the mood to play fast draw.
too hot for jeans n my regular shooting skirts are too long to use the thigh tie down, so i got into a short skirt, so i tied the gun down in proper annie oakley fashion.
i even put on a cowboy hat.

then i followed my normal sunday routine.
i'd bounce some cans around, then i'd come in for a cuppa.
but i kept playing the western.
kept doing this all morn.
total fun.

what i'm telling you guys is when practicing with a revolver, you gotta try
adding a cowboy movie to the mix.
there's something about gunfire on the screen that makes shooting even more fun.
pow! bang! the cans turn into injuns or outlaws.

seeing old movies on roku is one of the best things about being on the net.
i sepcially like it when the good guy shootsthe gun out of the bad guys hand, without breaking skin.

Suzie, have you ever shot a handgun with fiber optic sights? I have a hard time seeing at 25 yds. F.O. makes sights pop! Bob

ban, my single 10 has those. i do shoot a little better but my eyes are too far gone.
i've been wearing glasses since i was 8 n now it's bifocals.
i'm not sure how good i could get with fiber optics.
the single 10 is my most expensive gun but i just don't think it's
very accurate.
i use it to play cowgirl n point shooting n it's ok for that but it will never
perform like my other guns.
it just doesn't have it in it.
even when i couldn't shoot the m15, it just told me it could do great things.
is ther a way to install those on a model 14?
i kinda want one but i have no way to drill n tap n i can't find another weaver clamp on.
without better sights there's no use in getting another gun.

groo is bugging me for an update, so here it is.
one more installment in the continuing
ADVENTURES OF SUPER SUSIE AND HER MAGIC GUN

saw an evil bunny hopping around so i picked up the model 15 n opened the door.
i fired n the stupid gun missed. i was very disappointed n told gun to shape up.
later, i was reading outside n saw this adorable little animal i'd never seen before. it was maybe 6'' long with a bushy tail about 4;; long.
it didn't slink like a rat. on its long legs it walked like a dog.
i was wondering if i could make it a pet.
back inside, i found it was a ground squirrel. they are considered pests in orchards because they eat the fruit before it's ripe enow to pick.
so much for cute.
i have planted 7 fig trees out in the garden n expect a crop this year.
so, the next time i went out to read i brot the model 15.
saw it at the far end of the garden so me n gun went to look, but the squirrel hides better than i seek.

went back to my coffee n book, laying on the deck. i knew he lived under it so i thot i'd get a chance to use all that point shooting practice.
finally i saw him coming n got ready to get off a quick shot.
bu, he stopped about 8 yards away, giving me time to aim.
the gun is now blooded.
i can report that a 158gr semi wad cutter is an acceptable hunting round for animals that weigh 5 oz.
STAT TUNED TOMORROW FOR PART TWO OF THIS AMAZING ADVENTURE RIGHT HERE. SAME TIME, SAME STATION.....

now tht the m15 is blooded, it's eligible to guard my body.
so, i had it with me when i left the garden. the ground squirrel had dug a way thru the anti bunny chicken wire.
there was a rattler trying to squeeze thru the hole.
when i saw rattles i opened fire.
when the revolver was empty, i grabbed the 22/45 from its tanker holster n emptied that mag.
yeah, i'm a walking armory.
the first round killed it but snakes don't stop moving just cause they are dead.
they scare me n i fire til i'm out of ammo.
