When I got contacted by a friend at a LGS about this gun I wasn't too sure what it was, honestly. But being .45 Colt I was interested. I went to look at it and decided $1,200 was fair and brought it home. Looks like 1550 were made in 1993 as a stocking dealer special. I'm sure I didn't get taken on the price, but what are your thoughts? Do any of you have experiences to share about this model? Thanks.

I'm sure that you will like the way it shoots! The five inch N frame has the best balance.

I had a 4" 625-8, sold it and later regretted selling it. I got lucky and a sweet 625-4 model showed up, went to look at it thinking it was another 4" ..........ended up being a 5"...........and now I couldn't be happier! Yes for me the 5" just feels and shoots wonderful for me, you will be pleased.

Now If I can just find another one like yours in 45 Colt I would be thrilled! Dang you did good sir Enjoy it.

The friend that called me is really more of an aquaintence and is also a forum member. He was looking for a 1006 and I showed him a post here about one for sale, which he bought. He returned the favor and contacted me when his coworker brought this one into the shop.

In my opinion the 625-5 SDS is one of the finest non-performance center revolvers ever made by S&W... Post 1980. It's an extremely versatile gun and a very versatile caliber which makes it one of my favorites in my collection. Also, I'd pay $1,200 all day long to get another one so don't worry about that. I can't get enough of the 625 .45 Colt guns... If you can find them that is. I'm fortunate to also have a 625-6 and 625-7 set of the fluted Hunter/light-hunter models. Those three guns are the last I would ever sell.

It is a beautiful revolver, and I suspect you could get your money and more out of it. Who would want to unless they were desperate?

I have a Model 25-13 Mountain Gun in .45 Colt. It was also a stocking dealer special in 2006. I paid $850.00 for it.

I have always wondered how many stocking dealers there were then and how many revolvers this equated to for my revolver.
