leupold 4x scope vs burris fastfire 3 on a .460
I was wondering if I could get some feedback from some of you. 460 owners out there on which would be the better choice on my 10.5 inch pc .460. I am thinking for in the 0-100 yard range.

Welcome to the Forum
You have asked a question that can not be answered without knowing more. It is kind of like asking if racing slicks are better than snow tires. It all depends on what you are doing
Scopes are for accurate, precision placed shots at a distance, mostly on stationary or slow moving targets. Red dots are more for rapid, generally placed shots, especially on moving targets or targets at closer range.

Welcome to the forum.
I put a Burris FF3, 3moa on my M&P full size 9mm for range plinking. It's ok, but I believe I would lean towards the Leupold for whitetail hunting with a .460.

I hear alot of people whom are saying that the scope isn't the greatest for aquire your target quickly.

I have a Leupold FX II 4x28 on my Model 29-3.
I set this gun up for the same primary purpose - hunting whitetail.
I'll never buy any kind of optic that requires batteries - just my preference. I prefer the simplicity of a regular scope.
That being said, I sort of wish that I had gotten a 2x scope instead of a 4x. My intended range is the same as yours - 0-100 yards. I have found that the 4x scope does make it a bit more difficult to get on target at closer ranges.
....Plus the greater magnification shows you just how shaky you are.
My advice, get a scope, and don't be afraid to check out a 2x instead of a 4x.
Edit:
Gratuitous gun pics.

I have a Leupold 2X scope on my 8" hunting revolver, and that is exactly what I'd buy if I were doing it over. Unless you're planning to shoot prairie dogs with your handgun, 4X is too much scope for a hunting revolver.

You might think about a variable power scope
On my 10 1/2" model 500 I put a 2-7x32 Burris. It is very versatile.

Thanks for all the advice, how do the variables hold up to the recoil.

I've had a Bushnell Trophy variable come apart on a .44 Mag. Not the greatest scope in the world, but it was what I could afford at the time, and the old ones were made in Japan.
The Leupold 2x scope is ideal for whitetail IMO. Tough as nails, no questions asked warranty. It's what I'd buy today. But it depends on how you hunt. If you do deer drives and group hunt, then a dot sight might be best, since you might need to "snap" shoot as a deer goes bounding by.
I prefer to hunt from a ground blind or elevated stand. I'll often watch a deer for half and hour or more before I can take a shot. Snap shooting is not a primary concern.
The Leupold 2x has a wider field of view and is twice as bright in dim light, when compared to the 4x. That's two reasons why I like the 2x better. Those two things are critical advantages when hunting at dawn and dusk. The 2x also has a larger "exit pupil". So the image you see, at the back of the scope, is larger.

I'm with the Kernel here. I hunted with scopes for many years until I realized I was losing too many trigger pulling opportunities. I ground hunt (stalk, still hunt, etc.) and almost never use a stand, so deer may be at 15 feet or 100 yards, once both in 15 minutes!
Started using the Holosight, which works, and lithium batteries have lasted all season, but the microreddots seem even better, so that's what I'm using 90% of the time now. Batteries on one are three years old (a Jpoint) and it doesn't even have an "off" switch.
I hunt with .41s and .44s and the reddots work fine from 0 feet to 100 yards with a 75 yard zero. (Or a 100yard zero with slightly high hits closer in- deer won't know the difference if you can do your part!)
( First deer I shot with a .44 was done with the revolver held upside down looking back over my shoulder after a buck snuck within 30 feet of me! Surprise!!! Holosight made the shot easy!)

Thanks.
The base & rings are Leupold brand. I had to have it drilled & tapped to install it. Mine is a 29-3 and they weren't drilled & tapped from the factory yet.
