Default Model 25 4 inch with box decided to pass see post 15, and new to me 625 in post 18

My LGS has a model 25 with a 4 inch barrel, original box, original target stocks, and modified magna stocks, not pinned barrel so maybe 25-5, 1985 date, I don't think that there are any tools, or manuals. Slight muzzle wear, not shot much high 90's condition. He has this at $900 is this a good deal? I am not up on N frame prices, and is this a desirable configuration?

A 25-5 is in .45 (Long) Colt not 45 ACP. It is my understanding that the over sized cylinder problem goes away about the time of the end of the pinned barrels, so you find this to be a better shooter than earlier revolvers. I don't keep up on prices of this model, but suspect that it is not an out of line price. They are not very common and I suspect less so in rural upstate.

Offer $750, settle at $825 and you will have yourself a very nice shootable and collectible revolver. Wish it was in my AO. Good luck.

The modified Magnas would have been on either a M58 or possibly a M520.

A good price and a desirable variant of the 25-5. Cylinder mouths should have correct measurement on this revolver. Buy it and enjoy.

You can re-sell the Magna stocks. Owners of Models 58 and 520 that have lost theirs are always looking to buy a replacement set. Easy $100 value there. I would buy that if it was local and I didn't already have one.

I have decided against buying this revolver. I find that the N frames are not a good fit for my short wide hands. Also I do not do nearly as much range time as I should, and I need to spend more time with my carry pistols. It is a beautiful revolver but I do not have the funds needed for pistols that I will not use much. If anyone wants contact info for my LGS that has the Model 25, PM or email me.

i saw a dealer at a local gun show in Louisville this afternoon pay $1000 for a nib 25-5 4" with paper and tools, and set it on his table with all his other high end wheel guns

I was waiting on him to pass on it, and had it left his table I would have been on it like duck on a junebug

Here's 4" 25-5 from the local gun trader site where the owner is asking $900 for gun only.

December was a good month for me, on 12/26 I was in a chain outdoor store, and handled a Redhawk in .44 Mag, a S&W Model 53, and handled and bought a 625-5, which was priced lower than either of the other two revolvers. No box or extras, but excellent condition, with low round count I think.
In early December I was in a local gun store, handled a 629-3 in 6 inch, and a 28-2 in 4 inch, and handled and bought a Redhawk in .357 Mag, which was priced lower than either of the other revolvers again. Again no original box or extras but excellent condition with a few handling marks.
I now have to build up the gun fund before venturing in any gun shops.
Here are some pics.

Congratulations on your purchases! I know what it is like to run out of gun funds. (are kept separate ) I have a 625JM. My 1st 45 revolver. Since that, I bought a 25-15 on impulse at gun show (45Colt) Then made a trade for a Ruger Bisley stainless special edition in 45Colt. I DO like 45 revolvers! Bob
