Default Engraved 627-PC UDR

A rather tastefully engraved 627-PC.
I was told these were done by the American Historical Foundation.

Only app. 302 of the 627-PCs were made-

Nice touch on the thumb latch nut-

I like the scroll treatment for the address-

Oak leaves and acorns-

It's a .357. I can even tell without my glasses -

I guess it was made in the 20th Century. -

No. 30........

.....of 50-

The Whistles & Bells---

Chamfered chamber mouths, and recessed for a moon clip.
The blame thing holds 8 rounds, so a box of ammo doesn't last as long. (think about that if you need to )

It came to me used, fired, and very dirty. It cleaned up nicely-

First off, that's a beautiful piece! One question, why is the hammer backed off like that? Reminds me of half-cock position.

Would it be possible to get a pic of this full alpha-numeric in this pic...unless it's the serial #, and you don't want to reveal it. I don't think I've ever seen numbers or letters lasered into the underside of the top strap before.

That is in fact the serial number. The Performance Center doesn't put the serial number inside the yoke. It is engraved on the top strap and stamped on the bottom of the but under the grips. Best regards, Bob.

Awesome gun, Lee! Here is a copy of the AHF brochure offering the "twentieth Century .357 Magnum".

The hammer face is visible because the hammer is resting on the hammer block safety. That's how S&W produced the early N frames with a frame mounted firing pin (introduced 1998). By 2000, S&W had extended the frame behind the recoil shield to hide the gap.

Here's a regular production 627-PC "UDR" that shipped in December of 1998 to Lew Horton. This one is the tenth serial number assigned to a 627-PC; # HMA0010.

Nice find boss. I can't believe someone bought that for a shooter.

You can, but the bigger holes only allow 7-1/2 rounds instead of 8.

Nice gun Lee, it's a different type of engraving like the Bank Note like I just bought. Love the acorns and oak leaves, it would look great in the holster I had made with the same design. Larry

Some days I'm really amazed at the beautiful and interesting S&W's I find on these pages. Today is one of those days.

THAT is stunning. I doubt I'd have seen one elsewhere. Glad you shared it here with us.
