Question Speedloader for S&W model 69?

I was looking for an HKS or similar speedloader, but I cannot figure out which model because it is a 5 shot.

Suggestions?

HKS CA44 as listed for the earlier 696 might work.

The 5 Star J5.

I have two (the two types that have already been mentioned). They work OK, but not as well as my .38/.357 speedloaders do, because they don't keep the cartridges parallel, so that they don't line up with the cylinder holes very well ... it takes a little "jiggling" to get them to go in. I think the "play" is caused by the fact that both manufacturers want to sell the same speedloader for both .44mag AND .45 long colt.

I also have both (CA44 & J5) and have my doubts as to how well either would work under stress. As Mike F above states, the cases do not drop straight into the cambers and require "jiggling" to complete the reload.

I have actually dumped all five rounds on the ground being a bit aggressive with the reload.

Speedbeez makes one spectifically for the S&W M69 L Frame. I haven't tried the M69 version but have used their 10 shot M617 speedloaders and they work as advertised. Not sure how well their retention system would work with the M69 version.

I couldn't figure out from their webpage or their photos how the cartridges are released.

Once the cartridges fully enter the cylinder and the base of the speed loader contacts the back of the cylinder, you push the knob on the back of the speed loader towards the front of the cylinder releasing the cartridges.

It's a lot easier in practice than the above description makes it sound.

Are the rounds retained by the coil spring running along the circumference? Shades of the old Dade speed loader! Which I quit using as rounds kept falling out.

I have a m-69 and a speed beeze speed loader, it works great. However it is pricey. I think any loader(Hks) that you have to jiggle or mess with is a waste of money. The main function of a speed loader is to reload fast and effectively. If you can afford a model 69, you can afford the right speed loader for it.

I have one of all the L frame 5 shot 44s, 696, 396 and 69. I also have a couple Charter Arms Bulldogs. The CA cylinders are smaller and the chambers closer together. While the CA44 does hold 5 44s they DON'T line up very well and its a hassle to use them. I made a couple on my lathe and mill for now, but hope that HKS will someday provide the correct ones because they are a hassle to build.

I use the HKS CA44 with my 69, and it has Herrett Jordan Trooper stocks on it, which are slightly larger than the stock grips. It works just fine, in fact all 4 of them do. I'm nowhere close to a Jerry Miculek, but it's not overly slow either

Opinion:HKS CA44, Bianchi Speed Strips or just a belt 6 round slide for a S&W 69? I also found 5 rd. Tuff Strips-opinion?

I got a Speed Beez for my 696.
Very nice loader.
Insert and push.
Only issue is there no 5-shot loading blocks for match/range shooting.

Looks like they remedied that.

I have a couple of the model CA44 for my Bulldog, but I prefer the Bianchi 6-shot speed strips for 44spl/44mag/45colt.

I think ammo plays a part. Winchester 200 grain Silvertips and Buffalo Bore 200 grain Barnes bullets work well for me.
