629-5 rear sight/power port 6.5"
Hey guys, new to the forum and the 629. I picked this gun up yesterday and it came with a scope on it. I had a 686 power port back in 2001. It did not come with the original back sight leaf and blade so I need the whole assembly. I see brownells has one that's .146. Is this what I need and is the power port different since the front sight is behind the port? Thanks for any help!

Since it's a -5 it's the style of rear sight that is still in production. S&W Customer Service would know the right blade height, and their parts prices and shipping are not unreasonable. It's a free call.

That's what I was wondering. I'll give them a call Monday thanks. I would also like to maybe do a fiber optic front. Wonder if something out there will work?

The -5 has a pinned front blade, so S&W will very likely have a fiber-optic replacement option of some type. Perhaps several. IINM they also have a rear blade with fiber-optic rods. I'm not sure you can buy the rear assembly that way, already with the FO blade, but you can certainly buy the FO rear blade kit and install it yourself.
