Smith Wesson 3 inch model 65 trade.
I will be looking at an ealry 90's (pre lock/pre mim) three inch model 65 .
Comes in the box , with paperwork , orginal grips ets. It was fired and carried but it is NOT a police return. I would say an easy 97%
Few questions:
What would You expect to pay for one like I described ?
When did S&W start using MIM parts?
Would You trade a 99% (no box) five inch 27-2 with rubber grips for it ?
Thanks.

It sounds to be a $700 or so gun package. I think MIM parts would have started in the early 2000s.

Yes, I would go for that trade in a second (if I was the one trading the 65)

Ok. I see. Not an even trade then.

I would keep the 27-2. I think that the 27-2 is worth about 2 model 65s.

I have two 65-4 LS's that I purchased in the past year, one with box and doc's and one without. Both are in 98% condition and one was purchased for $500 and the other for $560. I also sold a friend my NIB 27-2 with 3 1/2 barrel for $1700. Using my pistols as a guide, I think you would need to get at least $1100 to $1300 cash if you decide to trade.

I have yet to own a 27. Would like to have 1 someday. Settled for a 28 no dash 6". (don't regret it) I had a 65-3 that I traded off for a 4" 586 no dash. Like it much better than the 65. To each his own. Bob

No, the 5" 27-2 is probably worth 30-50% more than a really nice 3" 65.
