Good afternoon, yesterday I hit up a few of my local gun and pawn shops. I only saw two items of interest. One was a pre-17, 5 screw, in great shape with all numbers matching on the metal parts. The shop was busy, and the guy that could negotiate price was not present. I did not request to remove grips for a serial number check. They did however, look like they could be correct, as the fit was perfect. (Diamond Checkered Magnas) Asking price was $899 plus 9.4% tax.
Second was a Performance Center 629-5, satin stainless, 3" compensated barrel. 44 Mag, fluted cylinder, with Hogue rubber grips. It was in very nice condition, but I believed way over priced, ($1225.00) for a gun with internal lock and MIM parts. I had never seen this model, when I tried researching it I could not find any information, until I stumbled upon images of the 629-6 PC Carry Comp. That is the gun I saw but the stamp was -5 not -6. Serial number was DCD01XX. Could the model number have been mis-stamped or is it legit? The aluminum PC brief case and paperwork are not present. Opinions on current day price would also be appreciated.
