It is a -15 and the sale price was shockingly low at $329 (OTD @ $350). I couldn't see anything wrong with it.

What I'm thinking of doing is filing off the activation nub on the lock and buying a new hammer, which would be de-spurred. (I did replace the grips with Pachmyer compacts.)

Nice gun, great price. I bought one of those a year or two ago (used) and paid close to $500. Enjoy.

Great deal...friend bought one just like it because he liked the way my 60-10 shot but could not find a pre-IL model. I helped him install "The Plug" and he carries it in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake holster..

Congratulations on your find. I have a S&W 36-6, the 38 Special carbon steel twin to your Smith.

If I may make a suggestion, do not grind the nub on the internal lock. A gentleman on this forum makes and sells plugs that replace the internal lock, but preserves the parts in the event that you must replace them for warranty work. Getting a new hammer that you plan to despur is a wise move.

The little nub Hammer from a Model 317 should fit (the fact that it is a rimfire doesn't matter). It is virtually snag-free, yet still allows you to shoot the gun single action, which is sort of the reason 3 inch Target guns even exist.

Awesome grab at a great price.

That's my favorite "all-purpose" revolver, and the one I grab when I'm dealing with a new shooter. i put some Pachmayr Compacs on it, which I like the look of. They take the hit out of some of the heavier loads, and fill the hand a bit better.

And if the look of that lock doesn't bother you, don't be badgered into tinkering with it. I have a lot of rounds through mine, and I don't pay it any mind.

Love my 60-15! Before I got into k frames it was my EDC! Congratulations and a great price too!

A piece of advice though. Check all of the screws for tightness. Even the screw that holds the sight assembly in place, as well as, the cylinder release screw. They have a tendency to work loose. Hope this helps!

Purchased this past February and replaced the combats with the OEM grips. Been carrying as my EDC in a Milt Sparks VMII all summer....it's been a great combo for me.....

Wish I had paid only $350 though....sounds like you got a great deal!!

This morning, I visited the gun shop where I bought it. The manager on duty said: "Looking around, today?"

I said: "Yep, I never know what I might find."

He looked at me and said "Sometimes, we don't even know what we have."

I took the way that he said it as an acknowledgement that they had badly underpriced the gun. Sometimes one gets lucky.

Great deal, found a dash 15 on a local forum last year for $425, snapped it up. Missed my -10 38+P from the 90's I let get away. Personally I enjoy the stock grips. Shoots 357s fine. A definite jewel!!

A 3" .38 Spcl J frame is just about the perfect carry revolver.

I've got a few of the sq butt Jovino M60's they did in the early 1980's. The 3" heavy barrel is a really nice carry gun.

My 60-10 ( .357 Micro 686) was my "kit gun" for about a decade......... now it's the wife's every day carry......w/ Spegel extended Boot Grips and .38s........

1. About three years ago I sold my Mod 60 3" with laser grips for $600 so you really did well.
2. Going against everything I tell my students, last Christmas I bought my single mom daughter a Mod 60 Pro Series because it is one of the least intimidating firearms ever made. She had never shot a gun before and after a few trips to the range she now can out shoot the vast bulk of clients we have.

You did good kid. You may consider a pair of lasergrips as they are great for training as well as daily carry.

I use to fire Magnums out of mine at the range. It will flat clear the bench to your left and right when you do that.

Just to update this, I recently bought a set of Crimson Trace LG-350s for the gun.

Brother, you speak the truth! Saturday, my brother and I took my 625-8 to the range. I had (10) full moon clips loaded with .45acp, Blazer Brass and Blazer Aluminum, (5) moons with Federal HST's, and (3) Moons full of .45Super, 255grain Hard Casts from Buffalo Bore. I started with the BB first... All 18 rounds went off, and were all in a 3" Dirty Bird Bullseye on a B-27 target, 10 Yards away. Next up were the Federal HST's, about the same accuracy. All I had to re-patch up were the Bullseys. Last I started in on the Blazer's. I started getting misfires right away. The Hammer Strut screw on the grip had worked its way lose, two full turns worth.... and the primer strikes were light on all rounds across the board compared to previous range trips, (I save all my brass.) It made it easy once home to compare previous shot brass to this range trip. The self defense rounds all touched off with the light strikes. The normally 99.9% Blazer Brass/Aluminum Target SHTF ammo was 50/50. All light primer strikes with the Blazer went off in my SA Champion 1911 though so I knew the problem was the Smith 625. On previous trips I've had a lose Yoke Screw, Cylinder Release Screw, and now the Hammer Strut screw come lose; the latter causing malfunctions/misfires. I've taken all screws out and cleaned the threads and holes with dental tools. I've applied "Purple" LocTite and torqued all screws a touch past snug down; and applied witness marks with a White-Out Pen. It's back to the range Saturday with a healthy dose of Blazer Brass&Aluminum, Federal HST's, and a couple moon clips full of the .45Super from Buffalo Bore since this is my dedicated "Woods Gun" and sometimes CCW pistol. It needs to work 100% of the time. I've put witness marks on my 70's "J" frames that also are in the carry rotation. I suggest others do the same for all serious use Revolver!

Check the barrel alignment. My 60-15 Pro Series had a canted barrel.

I have the same gun (60-15).

I've had zero problems with the lock.

Don't see any reason to mess with it.

If you are going to use it for defense, then shoot it a good bit first, and most likely you will gain confidence that the lock isn't a problem.

Greak hiking gun where the only real danger is people. Too small for bear country. This is a rainy day at Carolina Beach State Park.
