Default Do the new R8s and TRR8s need moonies to fire?

Looking for info on the new R8s and TRR8s. It's been established here that the new 986s and 929s actually need the moon clips to fire (which is a shame and one would think the Smith engineers could rectify that if they were so inclined). I realize the 9mm is rimless and the clips are needed for fast, efficient extraction but I'd much rather take the time to manually extract the spent cases than deal with moon clips.

What about the new R8s and TRR8s? Beautiful revolvers and I bet they shoot real nice but I see they are also cut for moonies. Can some actual owners weigh in here and let me know if the R8s and TRR8s actually need the moon clips to fire as well?

Hello I've owned a R8 for about three years now and I can positively tell you that you don't need moon clips to shoot it. Hope this helps

You can fire them without clips, but why would you? Its soo much fun with them.

A pile of spent moonclips in front of you means you had a good day

You can use them with loose rounds, speedloaders, or moonclips interchangeably, because the rim of the case headspaces on the rim around the outer edge of the cylinder, the same as non moonclip cylinders.
