Default 64-5 Joy and Disappointment

I ordered a Dept. trade in Model 64 from the a dealer on the Internet. After I ht the buy button I realized they had used a stock S&W photo. So I waited a week whilst it shipped with visions of a Khyber Pass hammered reject. Upon receiving it I was surprised at how little wear it did have, no gouges or glaring blemishes and lock up was good with no end rattle. I couldn't wait to put a nice set of walnut target grips on it. It wore Uncle Mikes grips and upon removal I learn that the 4" is a RB. Damn, I guess these Pachmayrs are place holders until I can find some decent wood.

Love my 3" Mod. 64. A bedside gun that my wife is confident she can use if needed.

Ahrends makes some nice wood grips for round butts (including conversions). Nice gun.

I was gonna suggest Ahrends as well. I've owned some of their RB to SB conversion grips.

I paid $350 for the gun. Can't rationalize spending $170 on new grips. I'll keep looking for some factory wood and supplement those with a Tyler T grip. I'm still looking for the same to put on my 66 3".

Go to eBay, you can find all kinds of grips at semi-decent prices. Also the Altamont and Ahrends websites have really good grips for not too much money.

You can get into a nice set of Ahrends on EBAY for $70.00.

Go to EBAY and type in Ahrends grips and there is a large selection there by a vendor named Gripseller.

What you see is what you are getting. Find the ones you like and they will be what you receive.

I have bought many of their products and have not been disappointed.

Good Luck.

Yeah, Or go to brownells....$70.

S&W REVOLVER EXOTIC WOOD GRIPS | Brownells

If you have a C&R license you can get dealer pricing and get them for $15 less than that.
