The Chihuhua I got for my birthday, or Model 650 range report.
So I got a pair of outstanding .22 J Frames from my wife for my 50th birthday back in September. Finally got a chance to get one of them out to the range today.
Shot the 650 and had a lot of fun! Like a Chihuahua, its a little revolver that thinks its a lot bigger than it actually is.
In the dim light of the indoor range it had a bright muzzle flash and it was LOUD. Strange shooting a revolver with that much flash and noise but no recoil. I was able to keep the groups to about 2" at 15 yards.
I used to shoot at 25 yards and I'm positive that the gun is probably more accurate than that, but the eyes are not what they used to be and the sights on the 650 are a little small.
Really fun little J Frame and I'm looking forward to trying it out with the .22LR cylinder.

I'm relieved to know that you didn't shoot your dog.

She sure does! The plan is two weeks in Hawaii in 2017 for her birthday and our anniversary combined.

So having taken this revolver to the range and enjoyed the initial impressions of just shooting it, I have thought about it for awhile.
Next I will shoot again with the regular 30 grain and 40 grain ammo, and actually record accuracy as well as subjective thoughts on the loads through the gun.
Finally, I will go unicorn hunting and attempt to purchase some of the Hornady Critical Defense 45 grain FTX and Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel 40 grain loads that are specifically designed to be used in handguns and test those through the 650.

Finding a S&W model 650 with both cylinders, box, etc. is one of my quests.
Well done!

The Hornady ammo is difficult to find in my area as well. This shoots well in my S&W 650; though it is partial to the 33 grain Remington load.

Thanks! Its kind of a collector, and kind of not. It has had a trigger job and the trigger has been rounded. It has been fired and has a few marks from being carried.
It also has box, papers, tools, factory .22lr cylinder, original grips, and Uncle Mike's combat grips.
I'm glad that it was not pristine in the box because I would not have been able to stop myself from firing it.

Nice 650! I like the factory bananas. Thanks for the tip on the Remington 33 grain. Ill add that to the search list as well.
