Default Model 629-1 Information

I am looking at a S&W model 629-1 with a serial # of N9364766 6 inch barrel and stainless.

I would appreciate if someone can provide me with a date and opinions of this firearm

Best Regards,
Rich

I have a similar gun but with a later serial number. Mine works great but I use it only for target work. The only modification I have made was to replace the rear sight with a Millett, which affords a crisper sight picture.

The -1 did not come with the Endurance Package of later dash numbers but as long as you don't pound it with the hottest loads, that isn't a disadvantage. I suppose S&W could upgrade it for you if you feel it necessary.

Thanks for the info

Not that it really matters on this particular firearm, but what did the Endurance Package consist of ?

I plan on using for target and hiking protection from larger animals.

Thanks again and have a nice day,
Rich
