Help with 38 special year please
Just picked up this 38 special and wondering the year? Cannot find anything on dating it so any help would be appreciated. Serial #95944 Mod 10-8

Confirm the serial number that is on the bottom of the grip frame under the stocks. The number you gave doesn't conform.

I took another picture of the bottom of the grip frame but cannot upload it?? It has the same number 95944 with 3 stamps in random areas F8, F17, and F18??

The number 95944 is on the bottom of the frame? Not the sides of the frame under the grips, the bottom. You are looking at factory work numbers, not the serial number. It should have a "1DXXX", or "2DXXX" perhaps, or similar.

1979, according to the Standard Catalog. Enjoy the model 10.
The assembly numbers identify the fitters who worked on the gun during assembly, and keep the various parts of each gun together, like the yoke and frame for instance, until the revolver is finished. (parts individually fit to each frame)
