Default Snagged a 351c

As I've been building my revolver collection, I've had a fascination for Rimfire variants. I've been wanting to take the plunge for a while now but I've been waiting for a good deal.

Slickguns had a screaming deal today for these brand new $329.99 plus shipping so I scooped one up. It will probably never get carry duty and will most likely reside in my girlfriends bedside drawer just in case she can't get to the 64 4 inch. With no lock and ammo widely available, it's starting off on the right foot.

I'd love to see some pics of anyone who has one of these while I wait for mine in the mail!

Nope, at least not the one featured in American Rifleman when they reviewed it.

Seems like a great deal. I find that to be an intriguing revolver, but I'm really trying not to stock another caliber!

Please report back after the range trip.

That is the 351PD. The 351C is a "centennial."

11 oz 7 shooter! Nice score! Kinda glad I missed it. The M41 I just bought drained my slush fund and my 360J will have to do

SVT28, Thanks for the heads up. I just placed an order for one also. That price is almost too good to be true, but was looking for a Christmas present gun to me.

Needless to say I can't wait to get it. There are two 351 variants that I know of, the 351c and 351pd. The PD has an exposed hammer, wood grips and an internal lock. The 351c has no lock, internal hammer, rubber boot grips and an XS dot system.

7 shots, 11oz.

As others have mentioned they still have these in stock. Really good deal, hope a few others snag one. I'll report back after I recieve it, take some pictures, and go shoot it.

I paid $680 for my 351c just a couple of years ago.

At $330, these should be sold out soon. A fantastic lightweight carry option.

I just bought the last one they had at $329.99! Thanks SVT28!!! Man, I still cant believe the price. I have been looking locally at them for a while and I think the cheapest price I saw was $580ish plus tax.

Congrats on a nice gun. I've got the 351PD and like it a lot. I live in rattlesnake country so in the "season" I carry it with the first two rounds snake shot. Very effective. It is also surprisingly accurate for a pocket gun.

I called them this morning around 10:00 AM and they still had 12, so dog gone it, I put another one on the order for a buddy. Darn good deal and glad it wasn't a misprint.

That's an amazing bargain price.
I call mine my pajama gun. It's so light you can carry it in your pajamas around the house to fight your way to a bigger gun ( if necessary.) Probably wouldn't be necessary. I have been really impressed with my light little 22 mag jewel. It's really fun to shoot and surprisingly accurate. I liked it so much I am getting a 22 mag rifle to companion with it.

Unhappy

I ordered one as well... very nice gun but when I function checked mine before I filled out the 4473 on it the trigger would not reset. I called Woodbury to see if they could ship be a replacement but of course they where sold out. Now the wait begins for S&W to open back up after the first of the year to get it sent in for repairs. I would have taken the refund on it, but I have yet to find another one anywhere near this price. C'est la vie

Picked mine up today from my LGS. Other than a few light scratches on the face of the cylinder, looks good. Help me out here, how do you function test a rimfire DA only revolver? Hope to get to the range this weekend and try it out.

That's strange because my 351c was totally unfinished on the cylinder face. Just raw alloy with deep scratches in it. Doesn't affect the function, though.

Well, I just picked up my revolver tonight and initial impressions are excellent. Mine was in perfect condition, in the blue packaging and all of the factory paperwork. When I pulled it out I almost threw it across the room the dang thing is so light!!

I had one spent casing to try the trigger, and although it's heavy, I feel like it can be mastered. The big dot sight will be nice for its intended purpose. I plan on welcoming in the new year by shooting this and my new Savage 93BVXP tomorrow and Sunday during my camping trip.

We like pics

Awesome!

I checked Woodbury's website the other day and they show to have it back in stock, but it's back up to $399. I still had not filled out the 4473 on the original one they sent me so I called them up and they are sending me out a replacement gun! Hopefully will have the replacement next week sometime and one that the trigger resets. Snagged a 351c

Anyone with their newly acquired 351C have a range report? I haven’t had the chance yet, but traded some 9MM for a box of Speer Gold Dot 22 magnum personal protection for short barrels.

You are correct about the noise and flash. Back when the 22LR became scarce, the only 22 ammo on the shelves was 22 Magnum, so I started buying and have accumulated quite a stash. So when I get the chance to get the 351C to the range, I'm going to make it a 22mag outing with the 650, 651, and the Ruger 22 single six convertible.

Even the Speer 22Mag Gold Dots are weak... maybe other brands of 22Mag can perform better out of the 351C and other shorter barrel revolvers.

I wouldn’t want to be on the wrong end of the barrel, also looks like it expands nicely.

My range report.

I fired it extensively new years eve. 300 + rounds. In the first 100 rounds I had 3 occurrences of trigger sticking. I cleaned the gun, and ran a bore brush down the cylinder. I also used 7 rds of used WMR brass to dry fire the revolver about 100 times. I did not have any more trigger sticking after that. (200 rounds) The trigger, albeit very heavy, is no that bad and I've already gotten use to it.

I used 3 types of ammo, CCI Maxi Mag TMJ, Maxi Mag JHP, and Winchester super X JHP. All 40 grain and rated 1800+fps. None of the ammo had bad recoil or flash. I could land all 7 shots on a plate at 7 yds as fast as I could pull the trigger. The big dot sight was great for steel plate shooting.

I know this won't be replacing my 649 no dash anytime soon but with its weight and capacity, I will probably carry it some in the summer (AZ gets hot) or when I'm fishing/hunting for snake control. I will continue to update as round count goes up, so stay tuned.

I just bought a used (fired once) 351C and have a couple of questions.

I've replaced the rebound and main springs in my 642 in order to lighten up the trigger pull. Will the same thing work with the 351C? IOW, is there a difference the required spring weight for rim fire?

Second, while I know that 22WMR is not an ideal self defense round, what are the options for self defense ammo?

Thanks,

Gary

I've read a lot of articles about this and what I've learned is that shot placement and practice comes first. Shoot the highest velocity ammo you feel comfortable with. For times where you may have to shoot through a jacket I would use the CCI FMJ/TMJ.

The only consistently expanding/fragmenting ammo that I know of is the Critical Defense 45gn, Speer Gold Dot 40gn, and the CCI TNT 30gn. I've heard good things about the Winchester JHP but haven't tested it yet.

I also would advise against the spring swap. Rimfires are already fickle and you don't want light strikes. My recommendation is to have a gunsmith smooth out the action, or do it yourself with oil and a scotch Brite pad. Then get some snap caps or used 22 WMR ammo and dry fire it a lot. Do not dryfire without used casings or caps, and double check you aren't using squib or live ammo. After about 1000-2000 rounds I've heard the trigger gets very smooth.

Thank you. There was something nagging at the back of my mind about not doing the spring swap and you refreshed that.

The seller included three boxes of Fiocchi TMJ ammo, so I'll use some of that to get used to the gun and keep the brass for dry firing.

Default 351C

All of you guys that paid $330 for the 351C, should go straight to jail!! I'm so pissed I missed it. If they go under $400 again, I'm jumping on it! I just hope I see the next price drop. Good to all those who jumped on it!

1971mopar, Give Woodbury Outfitters a call and ask when it might be on sale again. The people I spoke with were extremely helpful with my questions and helping me with a local FFL. Good luck, and mine is definitely a keeper after yesterday's range outing.

Thanks Mark, I'll give them a call tomorrow. I've been looking at this gun for a few years. At under 11 ounces, this would be a great carry gun for hikes. Thanks!

I called Woodbury Outfitters the Tuesday after I posted above, and they told me the $330 was a one time deal. I wasn't surprised, but hey, ya have to call and ask. I really wanted this gun, so I bought one tonight on Gunbroker for $462 NIB. Still a decent price in my book. Great gun for hiking and occasional summer carry. Can't wait until its here!
