Default 500 Grips vs Hogue Rubber Grips

Does Hogue make the S&W 500 grip?

If they do....is the composition of the rubber used in the S&W 500 grips different than that used in the Hogue rubber grips?

Thanks

Yes Hogue produces the grip for S&W

It is only available through S&W

occasionally can be found in secondary

The construction is different from all other Hogue grips

I am sure this ost will be followed by more saying the same thing

I had to buy the X frame grip through S&W when I bought mine. Hogue didn't offer them aftermarket.
They fit my square butt N frame without modification.

I assume the 500 grip will fit my 460 - is the 500 grip that much better in absorbing recoil than the factory Hogue grip on my 460?

Thanks

I was of the understanding that the 460 and the 500 were fitted with the same grips.

Pachmayr's Decelerator grip features a softer rubber that may cushion the recoil a bit more. Downside to that is the softer grip allows the gun to react somewhat inconsistently under recoil and that will reduce the accuracy. Found out about that aspect with my 610 when I wanted a larger grip that fit me better than the STD Hogue grip the factory mounted on it. When I saw how poorly I shot with the decelerator I got on the S&W web store and ordered up two of the 500 Magnum monogrips, one for the 610 and one for the 625 I had on order.
