Default Which Grips for 686 Stocking Dealers Special?

I bought a second hand 686 Stocking Dealers Special that originally had wood grips by Ahrends or Hogue both in Cocbolo. The gun came to me wearing rubber grips and I'd like to go original wood. Problem is Ahrends no longer deals in Cocobolo. I'm not shure of the quality and fit of the Hoques. Please share your opinions of these grips. Which would you choose? The closest wood Ahrens will do is Moradillo. I'll try to post pics

I don't think anyone does cocobolo any more. Can't import it, iirc. It's endangered I think. Look on eBay for used originals.

Please show photo. I have a 686, as well as experience with wood grips for it.

First off, do not buy a grip "sight unseen". It's unlikely you will find Cocobolo, but there are other choices. Try "gripseller" on eBay (who I have used). You will be able to see EXACTLY what you are buying. Within a wood type there can be many shades/grains/colors. Also note that Ahrends grips do not come with a S&W logo (OK for me, but maybe not for you). I also bought a grip from the S&W website. I was lucky to get a great looking one (square butt target, no checkering).

Contact Culina Grips @ Culina.com. I just got a set of Cocobolo that were really awesome. Check their K/L frame sold items for an idea of what they can do for you.
