Don't have any in their store yet, but are expecting them this afternoon. They do not know what PD they came from, they got them from Kiesler Police Supply. I didn't see anything listed on Kiesler's site either, but according to some previous post in this thread, yes, Michigan LE.

Just ordered another, can't beat the price.
Now I have a primary, a spare and an extra. My 640 ND is getting jealous.
There's got to be a cure !

Sigh. Well, I could not stop myself. I placed a order for another as well. This time I will dig into my slush fund and get a Postal MO instead of putting it on the CC.
Let the games begin!

They have them in the warehouse for online orders, just not in their storefront. Yet.

I'm tempted but I don't know how my wife would like the extra weight. Or I could just get one for me...

When you are on their site, type "police trade in" in the search bar. It will bring up several choices. Select "640", and it will take you to the correct page. Just came from there. +10 showing.

I didn't get an email either even though I'm suppose to be on the notify me list when they came in. Same for the Model 10-10 no lock. I have it saved on my favorites however and check it regularly.

None of the previous offerings of these had locks. These will be the same.

I got one the last time they were available. It was a very good deal. I do not think I need another 640. I just got a new S&W model 27-9 today.

Some places would have upped their price with every batch, the way they keep selling out fast. My hat's off to Centerfire for keeping the same price all the way through.

I just got back from Versailles with mine. I called them yesterday afternoon saying, "Set one side, I am on my way over." She said,"They re all in the warehouse, let me have your info and I will set one aside."
When I went to get it up this morning, she said, "Good thing you called when you did." She picked me a nice one, I am as pleased as can be!

Other than the serial number, the pictures from post 70 will do, his camera is better than mine. CAF4925 guess around 1996 maybe?

I'm dying to snag one of these and melt it. I'll bookmark their page and check it in the future. I can't do it to the one I bought new, many years ago..

Just went to the LGS and picked up #3. It's in the CBC1100 serial number series. Finish is a little more worn than 1&2. Mechanically it's basically new like the other 2 are. I'm not going to do anything with the finish on it. Kinda got tired messing with the other ones.
Edit: it doesn't have the lock.
Grips are S&W branded with a torx head screw. I suppose that was done to keep folks out of the inside. The side plate screws still had the red thread locker on them and had to be massaged to get them out. Inside it was tacky with old oil. Barrel and cylinder(even the face) were clean. Good trigger on it. Won't have to mess with the springs.
The hammer side of the rebound slides slot was cut back at an angle slightly. I've never seen that before.
Now I have to wait for the steel main spring rod swivel to get here from Numrich. This one has the plastic part that was talked about in the middle of this thread.
I suppose I ought to get in gear and order the Mika holsters for them.
I do wish it would warm up a little so the snow pack at the range would melt down some. I really don't want to snow shoe back into it. Supposedly it will be in the 40's in the middle of next week (11 above right now). Then It will melt and just be muddy.
Can't wait for spring.

Fast shipping from CenterFire. Mine came in today. It was in good shape in that it didn't look like it had been dropped . Actually the finish was good. The rubber stocks were wrapped in masking tape with someone' name on it and the gooey glue residue was a mess. The lock up and timing are perfect. After a quick wipe down here are the pictures.

Your's has the same beveled rebound slide mine has. I wonder when Smith started doing that (and what they were put on). My 442 from 2007 doesn't have that, but it's a DBF serial number. The CBC's were from 1996+/-. Is yours a CBC serial number range?

It is...CBC.
I'm not sure I know what you mean about the beveled rebound slide?

Rebound slides have 2 arms that the pin on the frame fits and holds the rebound slide spring under compression. Usually these arms are the same length. On your 640 and mine the upper arm (the one closest to the hammer) is beveled and shorter than the arm on the trigger side of the slot. None of my other Smiths has this bevel.

Ok, I hadn't noticed that. I'll do some checking myself.
Edit: I just checked Numrich's schematic and it shows a beveled rebound slide.

I never thought I would like a internal hammer, until I got my first 640 from the original batch. The more I dry fire it, the better I like it. No stacking at all, just a nice smoooooooth pull all the way through.

Nice to see those who've received theirs so far are happy. I ordered mine Wednesday night but had a mix-up with my FFL that finally got straightened out Friday afternoon so it won't ship till Monday.
At least my 72 hour waiting period will be up and I can pick it up as soon as it arrives at my dealer.

All I can say is a great revolver at a great price.
Glad I got mine, it is my CC revolver now even though I didn't think I would like a DAO revolver.

Just got mine from the last batch. A little more scratched than the first one. I'm happy with it. I'll get it cleaned up and lubed in a day or two.

Well I broke down and hit it with the Scotch Brite. Couldn't stand those little scratches. And washed the grips in Purell to get the tacky feel back to them.Left some of the deeper dings. They don't look bad. It hadn't been shot enough to have a real turn line so now I can dry fire it with snap caps to generate one.
It looks good, almost as good as the others. Can't wait til next week for the melt to start because I have some shooting to do.

I used the fine gray pad. Part Number is 7448. It took about a half hour. The trick to go lightly and get the grain all in the same direction. I went in the direction of the sight plane to the trigger guard. And I didn't have to pull the cylinder, just index it to go all around.
