Having the large S&W logo , and the flat rolled off ejector rod shroud is a plus on the Dash 3's

In my area the only Smith & Wesson revolver you come across are on consignment. Your gun as it stands would be north of $800.00

Could these rubbers be original, or would it had to have been wood grips?

Original grips would have been target stocks from Gonçalo Alves, with a speed loader cut out and washer in the inside to fasten the S&W medallions. Later dash 3's were absent the inside washers.

I paid $700 for a dash 3 blued version in excellent condition just like yours with factory targets. I agree with the above poster that it would be in the 800-850 range.

Help me understand how mine is worth $800-850 WITHOUT original target grips if yours was $700 WITH the original target grips.. Is the nickel really worth a $100-150 premium? Or is yours also worth $800-850, but you just got a good deal on yours?

Because nickel finish especially in a four inch barrel is both limited in production and desirable.

Sweet. Good to know. I would still rather have blued or stainless. Not a big fan of nickel.

That's good to know. thanks. I never understood why there would be a premium for nickel when stainless looks about the same, except stainless doesn't chip and flake like nickel.

Oh, that's another nice 29-3! I have one, six inch barrel, nickel plated. I wasn't a fan of the nickel plating either, it's very bright and shines like a diamond in a goat's ***, but it has grown on me.
The question of caring for nickel finishes always comes up. Solvents containing ammonia should be avoided as they will seep under any chip or crack in the nickel and dissolve the underlying copper plating... but S&W says they never copper plated before applying the nickel... still, I'd use nothing stronger than Hoppe's Number 9. I like to apply wax to my nickeled 29-3 after cleaning. Renaissance Wax is preferred, but 100% Carnuba wax without any abrasive works too. Abrasives are definitely to be avoided.
Enjoy that four inch 29-3 and thanks for posting pics of it.

A beautiful, 4" 29! I well remember a 4" blued 29 I had in the 70's, requiring really efficient ear protection when firing. I wish I'd kept it!

I added some Magnas and a T-grip. Fits much nicer in the hand. And looks better imo.
